That might not be actually exactly what he'll look like though. That's a screencap from the middle of the trailer where Scorpion has a flash back. It's a 1 frame thing, so we're probably not meant to take it as gospel. I just went frame by frame because I wanted to see him. :L

Not a trailer, it's a short film for a proposed hard R-Rated reboot. So don't expect what you see to be what we get. But for what the video was, I *bleep*ing loved every minute of it. It was dark, gritty and hella violent and something I hope the new rumored game is like (that "MK vs DCU" game was lame as shit with it's censorship).

Been reading reactions everywhere and people seem split. Got the douchebags calling out it's just copying TDK for it's realism [because every realistic approach to a film/series is automatically copying TDK; *bleep*ing dumbasses] and the rest love it for it's different approach to the series, even with the liberties and changing the characters mythology up a bit.

Didn't quite care for Baraka's appearance, but I loved how he attached blades to his forearms. I also loved Reptiles story. Scorpion was awesome as well and a movie involved around him after Sub-zero would be amazing to watch. Would be equally cool if the roles were reversed and Sub-zero was the "good guy" in prison and the proposition to enter the tournament is that they found the guy who killed his brother and he will be at the tournament, Scorpion.

Well IMDb is the only source for a 2013 date, but there's nothing to suggest that is legit. More like an estimated guess given the circumstances. It might as well say "TBA 2011-20??". If the legal issues are resolved surrounding the MK license (not sure if they are; haven't been keeping up on the series since Midway went under and WB bought the properties), Warner Bros could easily film and release this by a late Fall 2011 date or postpone it for a Summer 2012 release.

Since the short film doesn't suggest this will have much of a mystical element to it like the games do and is more realistic, filming and post-production work wouldn't take long at all.

The fight scene with Cage reminds me heavily of the fight scene from Watchmen with The Comedian (come on, the cigar HAS to be a homage), and too the scene between Jax and Scorpion seems very similar in cinematography to the interrogation in The Dark Knight. In other words: it looked badass. If only they'd skipped boring-ass characters like Baraka and for once in history not over-looked Cage, I could be creaming everywhere. Actually, I am anyway; I wish it was legit, so bloody bad.

Damn they just can't seem to keep Johnny Cage alive now can they. From the looks of it, there will be no good guys in this tournament. The only good guy was Cage and he got killed by Baraka. Of course they could change all that by the time it releases.

I could not believe my eyes while watching this. I was thoroughly convinced the Mortal Kombat movie franchise was dead in the water. Awesome trailer, but I still have my doubts. It could just be nonsense. For some reason the story didn't strike me as legit, but who knows, I guess.

Not too thrilled, but not against either. MWJ dulls the senses, can only remember him being a total douchebag at the Spawn premiere. I'm guessing because he was in TDK that people are drawing the association from that as well. Applying grit to character history isn't a bad thing if handled correctly. Still tongue in cheek, but it's freaking Mortal Kombat. You'd be an idiot if you wanted a serious action drama. Spelled with a K for a reason. Because it kan.
