Pfft, I have, I'm saying can't peter jackson come up with his own ideas, or at least take lesser known stories.

so is this movie happening or not? it probably wouldnt do as well, because it doesnt have hardly any action in it, but lots of dialog and lots of hobbit and dwarf hiding from orcs and trolls and what not. i liked when Bilbo tricks Gollum with the riddle though.

plus they would have to find a lot of actors who actually want to play dwarves and wear uncomfortable prosthetics and makeup for 16 hours a day for several months.

I read in the first post that jackson and elijah wood wanted the hobbit made... but, what in the hell does elijah have to do with the hobbit movie?? What kind of pull does the kid have in hollywood???

anyways, I personally don't want a blockbuster hobbit made...some things are just better to be left alone.... there are people who compare LOTR trilogy to star wars trilogy as the "best" trilogy... and that says a lot.. and to ruin that could possibly be bad...

Jackson directing and producing it would be great. Jackson just producing it would be fine (like when George Lucas elected to let Kazan direct Empire Strikes Back and focused on producing it. Good use of talents). Jackson not involved at all would be horrible.

Lucas didn't direct the last 2 of the Star Wars, just Produced. Lucas is one of the greatest producers of all time, but a middling director, and removing himself from the directing responsibilities was a minor stroke of genius. Keeping himself in the directors chair for the "prequels" was disasterous.
