	Log in to remove this advertisement despite QoS, the Bond franchise is still worth a ton of money. if they would only sell it, im sure they would have money to do the Hobbit and then maybe they could recoup a bit of their losses and get back on track. but they seem to have a death grip on Bond so, that will be their downfall.

	Guillermo Del Toro no longer directing The Hobbit While I am sad at the news of this, I certainly can't blame him from abandoning this sinking ship. I'm also thinking of what we're in store of from him now. New original projects and possibly finishing out his Hellboy trilogy. Giggity. -------------------

	so it looks like the whole project is falling apart, thanks to MGM's bullshit. will be nice to see Hellboy 3 though, i love the first 2. if MGM gets out of the picture, will Hobbit likely happen with another studio?

	What a shame. After him spending all that time designing creatures and immersing yourself in that world to just leave? I was really looking forward to his version on the world of Tolkien, I'm just glad he's at least writing the screenplay. What I would love to happen ideally would be to have Jackson return and direct. Who knows at this stage. -------------------

	Even though I have no idea if this will even happen I hope Jackson takes over as director. As much as I appreciate Del Toro being there and giving his input on a lot of the pre production ideas (he has a great imagination) I've never thought much of him as a director so I'm hoping this project moves on with someone else as the director. I'm a pretty big fan of the LotR trilogy so I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that this project is still alive. ------------------- last.fm

Yeah you put it eliquently, the prospects of Del Toro directing were always iffy to me as well and I would love Jackson to return directing. That's ideally fitting but then I never really wanted there to be a Hobbit film anyway and if there was I at least wanted Jackson to direct. Now that there's a window, there's that slight chance he could return. Here's hoping anyway. -------------------

	This is so depressing.. everything seems to be going downhill for The Hobbit. If Jackson directs however, i will be amazing happy I do not think he would let the fans down to be honest. 	Yep, just about to post that too. Although it's only in the negotiation stage, it's pretty much a done deal. So happy too. Have you been following some of those rumors of potential replacements for Del Toro? I got a sick feeling in my stomach when David Yates was among the first names dropped. Was so happy when it was debunked. He's butchered the Potter films with his uninspiring lack of emotion film-making and there was no way he could handle the Hobbit. -------------------
