Yeah I really wished they shot the Tom Bombadil scene for the extended cut. I was reading on the ign trivia or whatever that there was suppose to be a scene where it shows him just running in the woods or something and that was it, sounded kind of lame.

As for the end of rotk it could've been a lot better. If I remember correctly from the book Saruman and Wormtongue travel there and the hobbits are like the shit and everybody goes crazy (I believe wormtongue still slit his throat though) and I really hate (ok maybe not hate, dislike) the entrance they get in the movie. It's like "oh ok merry, pippen, sam, and frodo were gone doing god knows what for 5 years, lets just act like nothing happened." But still the movie ending makes me cry everytime so whateverrr.

It isn't what they left in it is what they left out that is kind of annoying. Such as the rushed way they had Frodo leave Hobbiton rather than the slow planned move it is in the book. And Merry and Pippin seem to just be thrown into leaving by accident rather than by choice.

I guess I could see how that bother somebody, but it didn't really bother me. Probably because in the extended by the time Frodo and Sam are leaving the film has already spent like 30-40 minutes in the Shire, and I don't think Jackson wanted to spend anymore time there, and kind of get the film moving some. By like having the ringwraiths there in hobbiton by the time Frodo was leaving, to rush it a little bit. But yeah it doesn't really annoy me, though I agree on merry and pippen, they did seemed a little rushed into the movie.

Jackson won't be able to direct, since his plate is full with other projects (and bacon). But Spiderman trilogy director Sam Raimi has expressed interest in the project.

Given that Peter Jackson made about half a solid movie in three Lord of the Rings flicks and Raimi made about one and a half good movies out of three Spidermans, I like our odds.

I'm predicting 25 minutes of solid Hobbit action. Mixed into two three-hour movies, of course

Aaaah I see, thanks, so with Pete Jackson back in the reigns this will be an awful lot like the trilogy i.e epicly awesome.

Raimi can continue throwing money behind j-horror remakes and spidermens in the meantime instead of getting back to A Simple Plan type business.

Nope, and if you've been following the news closely you'd notice his replacement successor. Guillermo Del Toro is in "talks" or all but confirmed for the directors chair. The film is reportedly going to be split into TWO films, for 2010 and 2011 as well.

Hopefully a studio confirmation will hit by this weekend to announce Del Toro as director.

I'm really pleased to hear that there's going to be two films. Means alot more of the story on screen which is great.
