Exactly.

Roger Ebert slammed the film for being a "dark toned" movie, and complained that he didnt get the sense of happiness and levity like what came across in other marvel films.

Its painfully clear that Mr Ebert seems to think that all comic book characters, and the movies that follow all are supposed to have colorful settings, and have some kind of happy story.

This is hardly the case with The Punisher. Had Mr Ebert looked at JUST ONE ISSUE of the Punisher, his complaining statements wouldnt have been made about the film being too dark, because that is what the Punisher books are.

Frank Castle is not your average "beat up the bad guy and live happily ever after" kind of character.

Its the same with plenty of other reviewers as well. They all have the mindset that every comic book film should be like Spiderman, or X-men.

They dont know the background of what it is they are reviewing, and therefore cannot render coherent judgement on any of it.

Ive said it before, if you want to read reviews, stick to the READER reviews. Fans who saw the movie, and for the most part, KNOW WHAT THEY ARE REVIEWING, and wrote their own thoughts on it. The general concensus is that The Punisher was a great movie, and very well done. I find it disturbing that so many have skipped out on this movie just because a bunch of critics gave it a bad review, when they know nothing about the background.

If you havent seen it yet, I suggest getting off your duff and catching the next showing. If youre a Punisher fan, odds are you'll love this movie.

I thought the movie was average. Frank Castle himself was better potrayed than then Dolph Lundgren played him. But i still thought the film was a bit cheesy at times, like the big russian - he just looked like a characature - but the fight scene with him was good, I thought every scene with John Travolta was terrible - it just looked like he was overacting (as usual) and gave the film a bad quality to it.

Apart from that, i did like it every time Frank donned the Punisher Skull - he certainly looked the part.

Yeah the Russian was definately intimidating (almost 7 foot tall). Dunno if it has been mentioned earlier in this thread , but i think it was Kevin Nash (WWE) who played him

Damn that kicks ass! I was gonna buy the DVD anyway cuz I loved this movie but now I'm super-psyched!
