Here's one of my all-time favourites. Taking heavy influence from George Orwell's 1984 and German expressionism, it's a wondrous visual masterpiece and without a doubt one of the best dystopia movies of all time. I think the message, that the systems intended to make our lives easier have only made them more difficult is still, if not more, relevant today.

I dig Brazil, it's like a farcical Nineteen Eighty Four. Holme and Broadbent are always neat. The only strand that I didn't enjoy that much was Hoskins adventures in being a stickler for beauracracy and it's messy end, then again he had it coming. Silly fun would describe it.

De Niro turning into paper was pretty striking. Actually the visual design of the whole darn flick was rather gorgeous. The ending surprised me.

12 Monkeys remains my favourite Gilliam flick. Yet to see Tideland but his most recent movies haven't done much for me, Grimm and Imaginarium.
