The Dark Knight Rises (Post-Release Discussion)

I'll post something more decent in the morning BUT...totally awesome, and a great way to finish the trilogy.

No you're not. I've always notice his lips too and thought they were... idk. But they're weird.

Honestly? A good movie, but flawed. I went in knowing little to nothing about the film, but hoping Nolan would have enough balls to end it properly. I was talking to my work-mate before the movie started about hoping that Bane breaks Batman's back in the film, and whaddya know.

Dark Knight > Rises > Begins.


I do like the way they sold Bane as having Batman in spades for a good 30 minutes there. He out-smarted him, out-fought him, and ended up breaking the guy's back.

The cinema was dead quiet when Bane brought the Bat down on his knee. Loved it.



My ultimate would have been to just end the movie after Bane broke his back. That's it, Bane lifts him, down, crack, credits. The sight of Batman contorted over Bane's knee being the last image we see of Nolan's trilogy.

In my opinion, the movie went down hill after that.


At that point, it was still redeemable, just have Batman actually die at the end of the movie. Please, don't be like every other superhero movie.

A mate of mine who's read the comics as well spoke to me this morning and wanted to hear my thoughts, I told him to leave when he felt the movie should end. He saw the movie this afternoon and left after Bane broke his back.

I might write a full summary later, but I loved it. Bane's voice was fine and pretty awesome to be honest. The one time I noticed it and loved it was when:

Also Anne was fantastic, she was a great Catwoman.

A very good ending to the Trilogy.

Of course, he did. Weren't you paying attention? Since nearly everybody knew that Bruce was Batman in this film, he had to appear as if he died to end the Batman legend. He corrected that auto-pilot (though he said he didn't to continue to appear as if it were a death mission), as Lucious found out. Selina wanted a fresh start, and Bruce took her with him. Besides, there was absolutely no other reason for Alfred to imagine Selina with him at that table.

Okay...with that out of the way...

OH. MY. AGAWW. What a thrill ride. I was blown away by nearly everything about this film. The sequences with Bruce back in the suit, working with Selina...outstanding. Speaking of Selina - Hathaway.was.perfect. From the moment she dropped character as that maid and said "oops," I was sold - even moreso than I was when I heard she was cast. Face it, she fit into this role perfectly, whether you like her or not.

Bane! As I'm sure it'll be the biggest complaint from movie goers everywhere, his voice was at times, very unintelligible. It's the little things though. The most important dialogue from him will be heard clearly. The moment he stands on the steps of city hall and gives his speech might be the moment where I began getting chills - truly a vicious character and force to be reckoned with. Hardy nailed it, as well. The second he raised Batman up in the air completely perpendicular to himself, I knew it was coming. The infamous back to the knee. Broken. In my eyes, there was no way Nolan would tackle this character without including that image. I'm getting chills just thinking about seeing it again tomorrow.

With all the speculation about Miranda Tate being Talia Al'Ghul, I wasn't surprised when it turned out to be true. I've thought it to be true for over a year. Though, about two thirds of the way through the movie, I began having doubts and thought she may very well be just another female lead (though, in hind site, it was pretty obvious all along). I just didn't expect it to turn so quickly - but when it was about to happen, I knew it.

I could have been in tears if I were softer when Michael Caine took the screen. Each conversation with Bruce displayed just how much Alfred cares about him and makes you really feel his heart breaking as Bruce puts the cowl back on to go out and risk his life once more.

Levitt was great too. Couldn't believe they made a blatant nod to Robin in the final minutes, but it makes sense.

As far as the ending - I addressed it above mostly in response to advent kid, but the minutes leading up to it...breathtaking. Bruce making the ultimate sacrifice to fly the atom bomb out to sea and blow up with it. Everything was there to make you believe that he was going down with it. I felt it to be true and ready to accept it (as I had believed it was going to happen somehow or another), and then Nolan hits us with evidence leading up to Bruce surviving (fixing the auto pilot) and showing him enjoying a new life with Selina.

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. In my eyes, Nolan has added another outstanding film to his already impressive resume and concluded this trilogy with absolute brilliance. Well done, sir. Well done.

I will have to give this movie a second viewing, but initial opinion is that it is my least favorite of the series. I'll just get the negatives out of the way.

Yeah, Banes voice *bleep*ing sucked. 75% of the time you couldn't make out what he was saying. Also, the ending was AWFUL. GOD DAMNIT WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST KILL OFF BRUCE WAYNE!? *bleep*! Pissed me off.

But anyways. The acting was great. I was surprised at how Mich time JGL got, but it was terrific. Hathaway was also tremendous, as was Hardy. Middle of the movie really dragged, but the last 40 mins or so were class.....except for the very end.

As of right now, its still Batman Begins first and then TDK.

It made me roll my eyes, TBH. Felt very cliche. I was absolutely fine with the Robin bit. That was class. But I thought a Bruce death would have been a more fitting ending.
