Will Transformers 4 & 5 Shoot Back-to-Back?

October 17, 2011 - Following this morning's report that says a third sequel to 2007's Transformers is in "active discussions," comes word, via Variety that the plan may actually be to shoot a fourth and a fifth film back to back. The same article also states that Shia LaBeouf is unlikely to return and that the franchise may instead place Jason Statham in a leading role, though no official negotiations have begun.

Michael Bay, meanwhile, is said to be interested in returning to direct but, again, nothing is official at this time. No matter what, Bay is likely to complete his next, Pain & Gain, before production on another Transformers would begin, potentially as early as late 2012.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon was an immense financial hit earlier this summer, reaching the fourth spot on the all-time worldwide box office list with $1.119 billion earned.

That Statham rumor has been around for a long while, back before or very shortly after the third film even came out in theaters. I'm game for a fourth. What this series needs is an ass-kicking human lead role. We've had 3 films with Shia screaming his lungs out like a little bitch whenever anything happens. Even in the third film when he was trying to get past those security guards all he did was scream hysterically. We needs a mature badass to command NEST or just go solo with the Autobots as they fight a new Decepticon threat. Glad they're not thinking of the once rumored "remake" scenario when Bay and Shia were both saying they would not return. We don't need a remake.

i knew that even if michael bay said he's done with transformers that further sequels would continue to be made. this series has been nothing short of a cash cow.

and i have nothing against statham, despite the typecast he's cultivated for himself, but the idea of him and transformers melding suggests a cringe-worthy direction for the franchise.

that being said i'm all for a whole bucket of sequels. i will miss the bayhem, though. :)

No Shia?? Even if this is a rumor but still made me lost interest.

I just saw transformters 3 two weeks ago, and I enjoyed it. The only think I missed was megan fox!! I would love a 4th film.

Well, I woudln't say that if another transformers is made I wont watch, I will, but I would wait and rent the DVD..

I thought Michael Bay was done?

Yes, because his brilliant acting is such a crucial part to the appeal of the series.

Bleargh.. the third was the worse and here comes the fourth ? somebody save us please.
