I had to hold back on laughing the first time "A Real Hero" played in the movie for how on the nose the lyrics were and what seemed like an overkill of kitsch. When it played the second time at the very end after certain no-turning-back events, it was way more bittersweet and moving in a whole different way. It fits in just fine with the scoring music and overall throwback feel Drive has. Whether the soundtrack is worth owning/worshiping seems to be in dispute, but everyone I've talked to about the movie has jumped right to the use of music whether they enjoyed it or not.

Just watched this today, and I can definitely see why it's getting all the praise it's gotten. A lot of it was just too slow for me, though. I'm going to film school to be an editor, and one thing that I'm so used to doing is compressing every scene into what it needs to be, then trimming unnecessary stuff from the beginning and end of each shot. This movie used it all, and at some points it worked beautifully while feeling too long at others.
