Rise of the Planet of the Apes
James Franco stars in an epic story of science gone wrong and the chimpanzee named Caesar who leads a worldwide ape rebellion.
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for intense and frightening sequences of action and violence.


The Change-up
Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman are friends whose worlds are turned upside down when they wake up in each other's bodies.
MPAA Rating: R for pervasive strong crude sexual content and language, some graphic nudity and drug use.

Weekend Round Up:

Transformers hit the $1billion mark. That's right, Transformers 3 reached over 1billion worldwide. Lick it up haters, lick it up real good! It follows Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 to reach the milestone, which there had been a race to see which film would get there first.

Cowboys & Aliens just barely beat out The Smurfs to claim the #1 spot their opening weekend. Captain America dropped to #3 with the final Harry Potter film finishing fourth. Looks like Cap wasn't strong enough to beat out families taking their kids to see The Smurfs. That I can deal with since Cap already had his moment to shine. What I can't deal with is why the *bleep* is Zookeeker still on the Top 10 list?

Box Office Predictions:
Rise of the Planet of the Apes @ #1 with +$55million. Change-Up #2 with -$20million, maybe even #3 depending on which of the other films already out audiences decide to see.

Weekend Release Appeal (My Fresh or Rotten Take):
Rise of the Planet of the Apes: (Looks awesome despite it apparently *bleep*ing up the canon)

The Change-up: (Not interested in whatsoever; another Freaky Friday-esque movie that I've seen countless times before)

Conan the Barbarian

MPAA Rating: R for strong bloody violence, some sexuality and nudity.


Fright Night
A teenager realizes that the mysterious guy next door is actually a bloodthirsty vampire preying on the neighborhood.
MPAA Rating: R for bloody horror violence and language including some sexual references.


One Day
Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess meet on college graduation day and proceed to reunite one day a year for the next twenty years.
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for sexual content, partial nudity, language, some violence and substance abuse.


Spy Kids: All the Time in the World
A retired secret agent, now juggling a family, is called back into action when a maniacal villain threatens to take over the planet.
MPAA Rating: PG for mild action and rude humor.

Weekend Round Up:
FOX is having a helluva successful year, especially this summer. Good to see Apes still on top this weekend. lold at Glee tanking and not even making the Top 10 it's opening weekend. Surprised Final Destination 5 brought in lower opening numbers than it's predecessors, but perhaps that's a sign for the studio people are getting tired of the series. I'll still rent it. I'm more shocked at how well The Help did. Even my Grandmother this weekend was saying she was going to go see it. The *bleep*?!

Box Office Predictions:
Not sure this week. Fright Night looks 'meh' to me, but critics seem to love it. Conan looks awesome, but critics are bashing it. Not sure how much is left in the Spy Kids series with audiences and One Day looks stupid, so kids and dumb chicks will probably go see both of these. Tough Weekend to predict, especially with Apes and The Help doing as good as they are currently.

Weekend Release Appeal (My Fresh or Rotten Take):

One Day: (Oh look, Ann Hathaway in another dramatic rom-com. Please tank)
Spy Kids 4: (It's a sad world we live in right now where we're on our fourth Spy Kid film but have yet to see that Sin City 2. The *bleep* are you doing Robert Rodriguez?)
Fright Night: (Critics are being more positive about this, but I'm an 80's fan. Remake doesn't interest me enough to see it in theaters. I'll rent it when it comes out on DVD in another 2 months; hopefully by Halloween)

It's a pretty shit terrible month coming up. I'll throw in some December opening weekend predictions tho:

12/16-12/18
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - $70 million
Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked - $50 million

12/21-12/25
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - $80 million
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - $60 million
The Adventures of Tintin - $45 million
War Horse - $35 million

Spamming the GD, obviously.

I'm going to predict that Golden is way overreaching with his Christmas predictions.

Immortals
A warrior named Theseus must lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion and his evil army for the fate of mankind.

J. Edgar

Jack and Jill
Adam Sandler stars as a family man who dreads one event every year: the Thanksgiving visit of his identical twin sister.
MPAA Rating: PG (for crude and sexual humor, language, comic violence and brief smoking)

Immortals - Disappointed with the reviews coming out for Immortals. Kind of swayed me to save my cash and just wait for it when it's released on Blu-ray. Even the best of reviews still consider the movie trash but acknowledge it's violent and fun at times and a big step up over the disappointing Clash of the Titans remake. Yet that's not enough to get me to theaters, not when buying it on Blu-ray would still be cheaper than what it'd cost me for theater tickets + snacks. Still interested, but I can be patient about it.

J. Edgar - Looks boring, but I expect it to make over $10 million. Will be surprised if it gets closer to $20 million.

Jack and Jill - Looks *bleep*ing stupid. Going to be so disappointed if this movie makes over $15 million this weekend, let alone cracking the Top 3. Sandler needs another bomb so he'll stop making these horrible movies. But alas, majority of audience goers are equally stupid and realistically this movie will probably make closer to $30 million.

Expect Puss In Boots to remain in the Top 3 as well this weekend. Movie is doing surprisingly well at the Box Office. But I contribute that to the lack of good titles for it to compete with.
