Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - Page 3

I enjoyed Game of Shadows almost as much as the first one. The cinematography during the scene in Germany when they are fleeing through the forest was marvelous. I was hoping for more mystery, I felt like it was a little too predictable for a Sherlock tale. No real complaints though, I enjoyed every moment.

The sequel has less memorable witticisms but more great set pieces. It has the same very well done balance of humour, drama and action. Ultimately though where this film fell short of the first is that while the first had twists in the plot this one simply revealed layer after layer. Sherlock Holmes should be about the mystery and trying to deduce the ending only to be completely, and yet oh so obviously, wrong. The first did that quite well. The second is simply a series of events being shown to you. While that doesn't make it a bad film, it does make it less of a Sherlock Holmes film.
