The Living Angelus
|
2012 | |
![]() Release Date: November 13, 2009 MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for intense disaster sequences and some language) Genre: Action Studio: Columbia Pictures (Sony) Director: Roland Emmerich Screenwriter: Roland Emmerich, Harald Kloser Starring: John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover, Woody Harrelson Official Website: WhoWillSurvive2012.com YahooMovies! released the first look at the trailer, available in HD. I was adamant when I first heard Cusack had signed on to star in the film, but held back my opinion for a trailer. After seeing what they offered in the teaser, how is this any different than any of Emmerich's other disastrous films, especially The Day After Tomorrow which has the same "big ass wave" premise. Oh yay, yet ANOTHER apocalyptic movie with a small group of survivors making their way through a world destroyed by something which is probably going to have been a product of man.
Oh well, no zombies this time. That they are building on the stupid 2012 theory makes me even more uneasy about this one. You're right, that was a pretty piss-poor teaser. ------------------- I don't hate oldies, I just amuse myself playing with them.

Cusack's good shit, but this idea is pretty terrible. I think the surfacing of all these theories and the interest that the world as a whole has taken in them gives us good reason to kind of indulge in these "what if?" scenarios and make artistic developments out of them. We've got books and movies and games that are all very apocolyptic in premise, which is acceptable I think, and to be honest, expected.
But toying with a much more (feasibly) realistic event is kind of borderline as far as entertainment goes. I mean, this is something that strikes a little to personal with a lot of people, and I'm really questioning if people are just that thirsty for money. It's just like that World Trade Center flick with Nick Cage. I can't comment on the film itself as I haven't seen it, but I think they should've at least waited until the dust setteled to start that one.

'They wouldn't.'
I'm sorry, but that line just made me crack up for some reason. It just sounded so corny along with the music. Either way, I still enjoy sci-fi thrillers that focus on some world pandemic or whatever. ------------------- ![]()

This movie has already been released in other places, I already saw it and I have to say its a letdown, I mean you'd expect it to have a more descent plot but it doesnt really. It has alot of religion in the story, I didnt really like it... very poor acting too.

Man. Whatever. Just how the world was gonna end in 2000 so they had to make all those apocalyptic movies, so now here's another piece farted out by this guy? With as much crap effects this guy adds, he should somehow be related to Michael Bay...

quote Raijin1999Holla. It's one thing to deject an idea completely, but at least being informed helps. I don't want to believe in any prophetic bullshit because frankly, I'll only have been 21 for about eight months and that's a shitty age to die at. Sorry. It's a little more complicated than jungle hippies though. Mayans are like one of a shit ton *bleep* load of cultures who all predict this shit will happen at the same time, and there's tons of evidence to support it. My question for all those hacks is why they bothered to not mention it until last year, when they've apparently known this would happen for however. Just try to enjoy your life, I guess, and hope that this movie doesn't suck left nut because that's going to take away two hours you would've had otherwise.

I hate to admit it, but I'm a sucker for these disaster-type movies.
Ofcourse, I wont waste my money on going to see it in theaters, but I'll definitely check it out via netflix.

I'm kinda digging Woody Harrelson's role: an insane bum that spouts about the Apocalypse non-stop. xD
