Paranormal Activity - Page 13

I know a few people have made the comparison already, but I honestly thought that The Fourth Kind was scarier than this. Paranormal Activity largely used the same scare tactics throughout, but the combination of 'live' footage and 'reconstructed' footage in The Fourth Kind helped give it a bit of an edge. There was a good variation of audio and visual scares in it (especially the tape recorder scene, which was terrifying IMO), but Paranormal Activity had everything happen in the same damn room, and with the exception of the few ending scenes, most of it was very anti-climatic.

Ooh I'm sorry but I can't believe a consensus is starting that The Fourth Kind was scarier...

At most it was a very jumpy film, relying on typical conventions to make you scared. Boring is what it was. I just couldn't believe some people actually thought it was based on real footage, some real stories but not footage.

That and least not forget he was a total douchebag who deserved what he got.

Just watched this with my girlfriend on Bluray. She was literally crying afterwards and now she won't go to bed. lol

I watched this movie, alone and in the dark, and it honestly scared the crap out of me. It game me chills. I know it was fake, but it was well done. I can understand how Spielberg thought that the movie was haunted, when he watched it all alone. This movie drew me in, always wondering, whats going to happen next. I love the how the guy underestimated the Ghost. There were four characters in this movie, the guy, the girl, the psychic and the ghost. Ghost movies have always been particularly scary for me for I lived in a genuine haunted house for years. Several years in fact. Noises, breathing, finding things moved around. It all happened. Like the movie, I believed that it was a demon. I lived in that house alone for some time as well. I had no where else to live, and if you think that its not scary sleeping alone at night in haunted house. It give me shivers as I write this. The movie gave me the same shivers. What amazes me though, i couldn't help but feel for the girl, who looked genuinely scared. But she alway managed to show some cleavage. Maybe, just maybe that was what the Ghost was attracted to. But I take my hate of to this movie. We are not always as alone as we think.

That was the theatrical ending. There are 3 different ones.

I am going to watch the other version tonight. On the DVD it has the Theatrical version and the other one. So I am thinking it is just an alternate ending. I Hope it is considerably different to warrant another version. Maybe there is more footage. Then I will watch the alternate ending, in the extra menu. I did not want to watch that after the theatrical version, in case it was the ending for the other version. Will I get scared the second time around?

Well I thought that the Alternate ending was pretty lame. Kind off destroyed the whole allusion. The Theatrical version is the only good ending for sure.

Well fools rush in where angels fear to tread. He certainly underestimated the Ghost/Demon. Still it was his house, and the ghost was the intruder, and messing with his girlfriend. The best thing to do in a situation like that, is to tell the ghost to go away. That its not welcome. I lived in a hunted house for years, but it never physically hurt me. It could have done any number of things to me since, I was in the house for a year or so alone. The only glimpse I ever got of it, was alway out of the corner of my eye, and it looked like a dark figure. But other then playing silly buggers it never really hurt me at all. Still I wouldn't mess with it. I always made it clear that I did not want it around, and never ever tried to make contact or friends with it. I don't believe in departed spirits, so I knew it could only be a demons, and that demons can posses people if you let them. Actually, demons can do that just by giving you warm fuzzy feelings, then they will get you to like that, then if you don't do what they want, they take the feelings away. Sort of punish you. Thats the first step, eventually they will take control, like you have turrets or something.
