March 04, 2008 - At a recent junket for NEVER BACK DOWN, actor Djimon Hounsou revealed to the IESB that he'll be soon be starring in a comic book trilogy - an apparent dream of his. And while he wouldn't reveal what said comic book trilogy is, those astute Latino bastards at the IESB have posed some rather intriguing possibilities of what film and character he could be talking about. First of all, they posit that perhaps he was talking about playing The Black Panther in Tim Story's soon-to-be announced FANTASTIC FOUR 3. Story had apparently previously mentioned an interest in having Hounsou play the role in one of the F4 films.

The other possibility is the upcoming Tintin. Hounsou mentions that this is a dream project for him. While Tintin may not be the biggest bit of pop-culture this side of the Atlantic, it's still extremely popular in Europe -- especially in France where Hounsou moved when he was 13. Add in the Spielberg connection and the fact that Tintin's being done as a trilogy and I think its speculation with some potential.

This has been talked about prior to the second film's release, only no name was ever rumored to be up for the role. Hounsou would definitely be *bleep*ing perfect for the character. And if Marvel has their way, this'll lead to a spin-off. Though, the same was said for Silver Surfer and I've yet to hear anything else on that project....

Djimon would be a great Black Panther, imo. Of all the 'character look-alikes' I've seen, most put him to play that role.

I liked the first FF movie, the second wasn't half-bad, but like other sequels last year, it felt a bit all over the place and rushed. I hope they do a third, I like Julian McMahon as Doom and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm.

Guys, guys, come on. Has Hollywood not taught you anything yet?

You said it yourselves, "Djimon would be perfect as the Black Panther."


That automatically tells you that Hollywood won't be casting him for it.

I still didn't get why 2 was rated PG? Will this be rated PG too?

I guess what makes him so perfect is that accent he has.

Black Panther, Black Lightning, or just to be wayy off beam Cyborg from the Titans would be perfect for Hounsou.

EDIT: Not to mention, John Stewart, the black Green Lantern.

Oh sure, there's no shortage, I was just picking some favourites. Although if I was to go purely by skin colour, Luke Cage would be the winner by far for me. He had tons of unrealised potential as a character.
