There Will Be Blood

Plot:

A sprawling epic of family, faith, power and oil, "There Will Be Blood" is set on the incendiary frontier of California's turn-of-the-century petroleum boom. The story chronicles the life and times of one Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis), who transforms himself from a down-and-out silver miner raising a son on his own into a self-made oil tycoon.

When Plainview gets a mysterious tip-off that there's a little town out West where an ocean of oil is oozing out of the ground, he heads with his son, H.W. (Dillon Freasier), to take their chances in dust-worn Little Boston. In this hardscrabble town, where the main excitement centers around the holy roller church of charismatic preacher Eli Sunday (Paul Dano), Plainview and H.W. make their lucky strike. But even as the well raises all of their fortunes, nothing will remain the same as conflicts escalate and every human value – love, hope, community, belief, ambition and even the bond between father and son – is imperiled by corruption, deception and the flow of oil.

Daniel Day-Lewis is enough for me to watch this film. Its been getting some good reviews and the trailer makes it look like my type of film. One i will visit my cinema for.

Yeah i'm really doubting though that the theater in my town will get it. Theres a independent/foreign cinema about an hour and a half from where I live, and they're getting both There Will Be Blood and The Diving Bell and Butterfly on the 18th, it's tempting to just drive down there and spend a Saturday and watch them, but the gas would cost too much.

But i've been looking forward to There Will Be Blood forever. I'm a big PTA fan and i've seen and loved Magnolia, Boogie Nights, and Punch-Drunk Love (have yet to see Hard Eight). It's crazy, TWBB is already being compared to Citizen Kane and Giant. It's going to be awesome. Unfortunatley I believe it will be snubbed at the oscars, probably due to the fact that it's way more awesomeness than they can handle.

exactly how much blood will there be? because that is the one factor that determines if i watch this film or not.

Supposedly thee are body parts flying around in the film during an accident on the field.

oooh, sounds promising. ill have to wait for Neo reviews to see if its really blood-and-gore-city, and if it looks realistic, or if its campy.

I would have to agree. This isn't the type of movie for teenagers (just saying) that are into gore and shotty acting. This is more or less for the indie/drama buffs.
