news Nintendo of Europe Confirms Q2 2013 Release Date

Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata just confirmed two much-anticipated Nintendo 3DS titles, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem: Awakening, will not reach 3DS until next year.

Nintendo had previously announced Fire Emblem for 2012, but Shibata said Nintendo wants to work hard on developing the best games possible. Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem are now due to reach Europe in the first half of 2013, which means there is a maximum one-year wait until you can play these titles in Europe.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed Fire Emblem will reach North America in 2013. He didn't have anything to say about Animal Crossing.

I'm not sure what to think about this in regards to the US release. The WW release dates were as follows:

JP: Nov 23, 2005
NA: Dec 5, 2005
AU: Dec 7, 2005
EU: Mar 31, 2006

Would it be safe to assume it will once again fall in between the projected JP and EU release dates? Or do you think Nintendo will be fair and hold NA/EU releases on the same date? Thoughts about any of this?

Well I am hoping this game will reach Australian shores like December-February really. Could seem like a possibility really. But then again worldwide release dates have been closer together recently, so who knows.

I like the way we are told we will have to wait a little longer. Wth this expected to be released in q1 or q2 2013 it could be up to a year away (from this announcement not today). That is not a little longer. There are plenty of level headed people on this site willing to wait. But there are plenty of others who will not. They are going to lose people because of this. Lets face it this all started with the animal crossing 3d video released prior to the 3ds. A lot of people thought that meant the game was coming out when it wasn't even in development. A lot of people even today see this as a shameless way for nintendo to ensure its new handheld would sell well when it went on sale. It lost them a lot of trust from a very loyal fanbase. They can only push people so far.

I guess I'll just keep on playing ACCF then....
I was hoping that the 3DS version would come out before my Wii finally turns to dust from old age, but I'll live. I do hope that others do not lose interest after waiting for so many years.
