Enemy of the Week - Cucco!

The Cucco, at first glance, looks like a harmless animal. It roams in many areas of OoT, and can be picked up and used to glide down to areas that Link could not reach by jumping.

Whenever Link really needs one to gain access to somewhere, rest assured one will be roaming in the area. How convenient!

This makes them very marvellous creatures. They help Link so much. Even running away so Link can get an empty bottle for catching them all!

They really don't have a bad bone in their body. No, honestly, they really don't!

We've talked about the good side of the Cucco. Time for the evil.

It's safe to say, sometimes we need to take our frustrations out on something. It's human nature.

Bad day at work? School? Pop in OoT to calm down. It will work for a few minutes, until you do something really stupid. Using the Cucco to fly down Gerudo Valley, but your angle was so off you're now flying into a wall and can't see anything?

Now you blame it on the Cucco. Trust me - don't blame it on the Cucco. "Stupid Cucco, slicey slice!"

What's it doing? Why is it...? Ugh oh....

Cuccos, when angry, will call upon hundreds of others to do an all out assault on Link. And on top of that, each Cucco does one heart of damage! That's the same as a Stalfos' sword!

An angry Cucco is invincible, and it is impossible for Link to defeat one. Therefore, the Cucco and the Cucco army are the strongest enemy Link has ever came across. Stronger than Stalfos, Iron Knuckle, and even Ganon himself.

Do you like the Cucco? How many times have they pounded your face into the dirt? Is it fun to be chased by them? Where do you think the hundreds of them suddenly appear from?

Cucco Survival mini-game!

The aim of the game is to anger a bunch of Cuccos and have them chase you around. You have to survive for as long as possible!

Things you'll need:
•Ocarina of Time 3D
•Nintendo 3DS
•Stopwatch
•Access to Lon Lon Ranch as an adult.
•A lot of time to kill!

Rules:
•You must be adult Link.
•You cannot use Epona.
•You cannot use any items.
•Timing must start AS SOON as the Cucco starts calling for others, to keep it fair.
•Timing must stop AS SOON as the dying animation starts.
•You can only have three hearts. If you have the defence boost, reduce your hearts until you will die from three hits. (one and a half hearts)
•It must take place in Lon Lon Ranch.

Additional details:
•Try not to run in a circle to the extent that all the Cuccos start bunching up. It's almost impossible for them to hit you that way, and makes it kinda unfair.
•Do not lie about your time. I created this game for fun, not to take seriously. If there is someone you wish to beat, and just can't do it, just forget about it. There's other things in life than trying over and over again to survive Cuccos the longest!

The best Cucco jump is at Gerudo Valley. Now that's a long flight.

And Cuccos are also highly amusing when enraged, then riding around with invincibility thanks to Epona.

As Roxas pointed out, they weren't really used for much.

Any ideas that could have made the flying mechanism more useful and fun?

A mini game where you had to fly down Death Mountain through targets or something similar would have been fun, rather than have the owl take you.

TP is a good example of this, where Link floats through giant rupees down into Lake Hylia with a Cucco.

Or perhaps some kind of puzzle where Link has to fly to platforms in the right order to win a heart piece.

Here would be a really fun one:
Cucco Race! Race epona and see if you can beat the cuccos to a piece of heart at the end of the racetrack in lonlon ranch.Altough the cuccos make to the finish line with 10 seconds(thats a given)...

They dont need the master sword, not when they have each other!

I was shocked the first time I accidentally initiated a Cucco attack. x3 Where do they come from? Perhaps they hide all over the place, just biding their time. Either that or they like to take trips away from Lon Lon Ranch or something.

And it's hilarious to have it happen while using Epona. Invincibility versus invincibility!

I bet they would've helped us out to fly around at night. But I guess removing them helps retain focus on the Loftwings as "the bird" of SS.
