OoT's Atmosphere - Still Exist?

I think that the atmosphere is still the same, I still think all the spooky parts are spooky I still get goose bumps everytime I beat the game, i get so excited about beating it every time

I think the game still keeps its atmosphere well, but there is one problem that kinda bugs me a bit: The Dialogue.

To me it seems the writing moves faster, without any pauses. Like, for example, (dunno if this would be considered a spoiler?) when the Deku Tree dies, the original game pauses to show a slow down of his speech. The 3DS version doesn't slow down his speech that much.

So it feels like there is not much tone of voice and expression for some characters.

Tell me if any of you guys have noticed this?

As for the scary side, it's actually scarier. In the Shadow Temple, when 3D is turned on, the small paths (which lead to DeadHand and Hover Boots) give me a feeling of claustrophobic, which really gets you into the game.

What do you guys think? You ever had a feeling of claustrophobia in the Shadow Temple?

Yeah, I think the added detail to such things as the ReDeads really helps to add to the atmosphere, and that the change in lighting, vibrancy, etc isn't of any negative effect. There are a number of interesting graphical updates to note actually. Like in the original, the Ferry to Another World had a raven head at the front, like what you see around the Shadow Temple. In OoT 3D, however, it's like a grim reaper sort of thing, which I feel is a much better contribution to the overall atmosphere of that dungeon.

I can't say I paid much attention to the dialogue in that way, but I find your point interesting and can see why you'd feel it's an important one. Rushing through the text during a death scene would certainly change the overall effect of it. And I did like the use of small rooms and narrow corridors in the temple. It's also a dungeon with "continuous flow", seeing us simply go further and further down into the ground, which I think also adds to the overall effect of it.

It looks really cool to me and I discovered the change the other night while doing some reading. It's just one of those small graphical changes that may or may not be noticed, but I think definitely contributes to the overall atmosphere of this game. Most of the debate has been centered around the main changes like lighting and what 3D actually achieves, but little changes like that I think are just as important to the overall effect. I guess when you have over a decade of hindsight to employ that such things will tend to pop up.

The bigger changes of course make their own significant contribution. For example I have a thread somewhere with a video comparing the introductions from the original and OoT 3D, and the difference in lighting, vibrancy and frame rate made a huge impact on your perception of it all, but only for the better.

From what I've seen and played, I think the game maintains its atmosphere well. The inclusion of the original soundtrack certainly helps its case and I have much praise for the graphical updates of the game, 3D and all. Certainly things look cleaner and whatnot, but I don't think it takes away any of the scary from the scarier bits, or the ability to produce the right atmosphere at the right moment.

I never played the first game, as I would have been minus 1 years old (Check my CT.) But it's atmosphere is great. There is a real sense of doom after you get the master sword.

Certainly shows how long the game has been around now. The graphical update definitely added a lot to the changes that occur following the seven years in the chamber. As soon as you leave the Temple of Time it hits you like a tone of bricks, and I really enjoyed that.

I thought Ganondorf is fine, but he certainly looks cooler in other titles.

It depends what kind of 'stuff' you mean looks better...

As for Ganondorf, he's looked better in other titles, but this was the first time he appeared as a human and in a 3D environment (i think), so obviously he would have improved in later titles. Makes me wonder if he'll appear in Skyward Sword...? The reveal of Ganondorf in TP was such a great feeling!
