Whoah holy spaghetti. This is definitely real, but the appearance of Bowser Jr. surprises the cahoots out of me. Up until now, he's never shown up in a Mario spinoff game (excluding party/sports games). Seeing him on the box art is like a ray of burning sunshine for me.

Anyway, a couple of people were asking where Bowser is. Bowser's in the game, but I'm not sure how large of a role he's going to have. The story starts with Bowser messing with the sticker comet and making it explode, resulting in stickers showing up everywhere. Plus, you can see the Bowser-styled crime tape on the toad in this box art, as well as in a few screenshots of Decalburg. I'm guessing he's going to have some sort of role, but Bowser Jr. might be the Jr. Troopa/Lord Crump of the game, following Mario everywhere and meddling with his adventures.

I'm mostly sure the partner system (if there's a partner system at all) will be widely different from previous Mario games. It wouldn't be too unusual for them to take part as sticker summons (as stickers play a huge role in this game), but it's possible that they could just be temporary followers throughout the story or side missions.

As for stickers in battle, stickers account for your basic attacks as well as your special ones, and once used, they're gone. Some information I managed to learn from one of the writers of this game, is that you can run out of stickers, and if you do, you will not be able to attack enemies. Most of the time, you'll have to run from the battle and find more. Apparently, though, there are a ton of stickers available in the levels you visit, and running low on them won't be very common at all. You cannot run from boss battles. I wasn't able to find out how a boss battle goes after losing all your stickers, but if I were to guess, there might be a way to get more stickers in-battle, if you block attacks well enough or maybe use a special ability. That part's just speculation, though.

One of the early levels has Fuzzies. I saw some gameplay at PAX, and noticed area names from a few of the unseen levels as Mario was walking through the overworld. I saw quite a few level names, but I'm crazy-forgetful, so all I remember is that one of them involved Fuzzies. Fuzzy Forest or something, I don't know.

And a couple fun facts. This game is going to release 8 years and exactly one month after The Thousand-Year Door, and Kersti's name originated from the word 'sticker,' only with the syllables switched.

I know everybody is wondering where Bowser will be, but my guess is that Bowser Jr. will be the main antagonist in this game, while Bowser will play a role more like Bowser Jr. in other games, or like he did in TTYD/SPM. The partner system (or lack thereof in this case) will most likely be only during side-quests, as seen through the lack of creativity in them, such as a green toad and a normal chain chomp.

Yeah, that would be very cool. It would be something different, and i'm always up for something different, especially since most Mari Bros. games are very similar.
