I was thinking the same thing. I honestly wouldn't get it if there were no partners, which would especially suck considering I already pre-ordered it and everything...

E3 2012 is in a few days, let's just hope they mention more about the game!  That'd be nice, maybe they'll release a new trailer or two that'll give us some more information. Hopefully they'll at least show something about the partners in the game, because so far I'm really liking the ones that were revealed.

On the subject of no partners, I think it'd be a huge disappointment to not see them in Paper Mario 3DS. They were one of the best parts of both games. If there are partners, I hope they follow the formula they used in TTYD. Give them dialogue and a separate personality, as well as their own HP. And they shouldn't make them Pixls, because I don't want anything to remind me of Super Paper Mario.

Like I said before, it's unlikely that there are any real partners. At this point, the closest we're going to get is if Kersti can shapeshift into a Chain Chomp, Toad, and other creatures, but I'm not sure how likely even that is anymore. Why is it unlikely? From what it looks like the Toad and Chain Chomp are perfectly real. Why wouldn't they be real?

I haven't really thought about it that way, and now that I do, I think you might be right. I never really picked up on the fact that Mario was by himself on most of the trailers, and I hadn't realized that the partners so far are kind of boring.
Oh, and now that I think about it, all of the partners from past games were able to do things when they weren't fighting enemies, like out-of-battle abilities. So far from what I've seen, the only things you can use when you aren't fighting an enemy are stickers.
All in all, I think you're right...

Yeah it does. I just hope they get a little more creative with the other characters that are in the game. I want to see them be original with it like they were in TTYD, not just normal characters you wouldn't be able to pick out in a crowd.Σ

Yeah, I guess we will have to see. I'm pretty sure that those partners we saw were more then likely the basics of them and that they may look different in the finished game.
Yeah, that's what i'm hoping for at least. It just seems like there's nothing special about the Toad at all. Though the Chain Chomp is pretty awesome.Σ

Partners or not, they're doing an excellent job of keeping it concealed in game play videos and other trailers.
I was watching the trailer a little while ago and I noticed this too. Maybe the partners only come out when you're fighting enemies, and they don't have out-of-battle powers. Who knows.Σ

Honestly people give the game a try. It's been confirmed that Kersti will be the first partner. FIRST partner. Which would mean there are more after that. They're probably just reducing spoilers. Honestly this is just like Sonic fans. They let one little thing get in the way of the entire game. This game looks great. I'm really excited for it despite the fact that partners have barely been shown. I'm getting this game no matter what. If you were true fans of the series you would give it a try regardless.
This thread was made over a year ago, so no one knew that there were any partners yet, because they weren't actually revealed until a little after this was made. And besides, we are all "true fans", that's why we're here. No one ever said they weren't going to get the game.  Σ

I was gonna make a new thread, but I decided I should just bump this thread because it still has some discussion value.
So guys, what do you think? What happened to the partners? Sure, we know about the Chain Chomp and Green Toad, but why do you think we haven't heard anything more of them?

Tbh, it's kinda bugging me that we haven't heard more info about partners. I hope we get some info about them soon.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, that's exactly why I brought it up. We saw them in early-on screenshots, but then we never heard of them again, they weren't even it screenshots.
Maybe they were temporary characters you have for side quests? I mean after all, it was never announced that there would be partners.

Completely agreed. If there aren't partners, Nintendo's taking a huuuuuuuuge gamble. Every single Paper Mario fan loves the partners, and to be completely honest, no partners = no sales for Nintendo (Well not no sales, but definitely a lot less than there could've been).
I personally love the partners, but if this game didn't have any, I guess I wouldn't mind, but I also wouldn't get into it as easily as past games. Sure we have the returning 3D landscape and turn-based battle system, but without partners it would just seem... wrong, in a sense.

Symphonic Abyss Well you never really know. Maybe the partners are optional and you can get them through side quests similar to like how you gain more HP and such. It's hard to tell this early before the game comes out, but I would really hope it was something like that.

Yeah, after further investigating it looks to me as if there's not going to be any partners in this game. I'm personally alright with it, but there are going to be people that won't like it, because they only want the 'original stuff'. Like, sure, I know what they're saying, but seriously, I think change is good. Too much of the same thing just gets boring.

After further consideration about the topic, i've decided that it no longer really bothers me that there aren't any partners. I actually really like the idea of temporary partners during sidequests and stuff, and I feel like that'd be a really cool idea and would definitely work. :3

Stickers on the other hand? They're stickers. Kind of hard to get emotionally attached to a sticker.
It's also pretty hard to get emotionally attatched to paper, but ya' know.
I understand what you're saying though. Alrhough they did personality and such, who's to say temporary characters won't do the same thing? I mean, obviously we don't know yet, but still, they could have great personailities.
