Historically, it's more like a country. Early in our history, the original 13 colonies were more like separate nations. During the revolution, we became more united and formed a loose association under the Articles of Confederation. We were still basically a collection of nations loosely affiliated with one another. The our founders decided on having a more powerful central government, so they wrote the constitution that created a federation of states that placed certain powers at the federal government, clearly recognized a series of individual rights, and left the other issues at the state level. After the Civil War, the federal government became more powerful, and has steadily become more powerful since. At this point we've more or less homogenized into one country, but there are still many issues decided at the state level. I think the closest parallel would be how Scotland, Wales, England, and Northern Ireland all form the UK, but have historically been different countries.

The Flame if its where you reside it's good so I am just going to say if you have two people or more than one person fighting for the same state it's fine. Also I have been watching how big this might be so instead of 15 I am raising it to 20. There are currenty 9 people signed up and only 7 states battling it out to this point.

Hey he didn't ask for a random history lesson! But I see where you are trying to get. And yes I guess England is a state since its governed by the UK. No history lessons now my head just hurting from that and to deal with High school just ain't working.
