Have you played Pokémon Rumble for WiiWare? It's exactly like that.

Basically you control toy Pokémon in a pretty simple action game. You just run around with two attacks defeating enemy Pokémon which you can collect. Pokémon don't get stronger, but you can keep getting Pokémon with stronger power levels, various traits that power up certain aspects of the Pokémon, and different moves.

There should be a trailer somewhere on youtube or probably even on the eShop

I went to the Nintendo World Store today in Manhattan. It was pretty cool.

Bought a new crimson/black DS Lite (unfortunately with matte finish on the bottom half) as a dedicated gba, a link plush, and a ? block sound plush. Also got a lot of streetpasses just walking around Manhattan
