I chose to run spear to tank only, not to deal dmg. I however am able to get my shield splitter 4K+ with all defensive buffs in play. With my setup im still able to hit around 2K-2.5K and around 3.5K-4K with crits. Not everyone in the game WANTS to be a dmg dealer. My 2nd avi i chose to give SS in this game a shot. Im very happy with it. Its not the greatest but my setup its very good for dmg and survivability at same time. I switch from spectral top to the titans top for higher def and res, but even in my Str setup im at 1040 def and 290 res, the titans knocks it up to around 1080 def and 320 res, and with the def and res buffs, tanking is no problem. I hate running mage so i wont be casting spells as SS. But i can switch roles on the fly if need be and is incredibly helpful in some instances. It is most certainly a class that can fill in the gaps of certain parties. It all comes down to the player and tactics. If you're curious about the setups I'm using the most :
This is my "light" armor, an all around set made to be quicker and stronger for when I don't need to tank strong monsters.

The tank set is heavier, made to take strong attacks easily.

Depending on the boss, I sometime switch the gloves for others with more res or def, but I often keep the troll gloves.

I wasn't talking to someone specific, it's just that I rarely display my stats in my videos and I switch my gear really quickly so it's hard to see what I'm using.

Anyway, a tank armor should focus on armors with high def/res with vit/spr bonuses. The weight of your armor will also impact how often a hit will send you fly. If you take an heavy shield and four heavy armor parts, no attack will make you fall, it's the setup I use in the last boss of RoE2.

If you want to be able to tank every boss, you'll need a specific armor to tank in The Windfrocker 2, or Efreet will just wipe the floor with you. Its magic stat is just overpowered, without a least 400 res you can't tank it efficiently.

As a ss I have been able to deal damage on par with axes and Ls when it comes to slash weak.

I have, and a few if my friends have as well. It's easy, Just have a res set for the start of the fight.

Cast FF when you see "burst of magic" Once hes on the ground have about 1k def and moonslash until he raises his barrier. At this point you put the most heavy def gear you have for knockdown resistance then use a dagger and cast EG. Remember to keep your mp up with mp leach since his knight form draws your ac anyway.

His knight form is the easy part rembember to defend for his super charge keep fort up and moon slash or EG your choice (moonslash is faster)

*Do not dual wield or use Daredevil stance when trying to solo.

It took me a few trys to get it down, but I can get the S-Rank every time now

look up the word solo and see what it means, if you did it with NPC, then it's obvious not.

notsureifsrs, most players who know what the hell they are doing use the tank + 2 mage setup.

he easily does Apex, and even rival survival 2, which is 10x harder. no one can solo apex. (without mods)
