Something new...

I encountered a player the other night in a guild room that I believe was deliberately causing problems for other players using some method to disrupt the peer communications of the game. This player basically admitted that they like to tick (they used another word) people off, and I have seen them in various message board threads trolling and generally being something of a jerk.

Well, while they were in the room, people started dropping like flies when they entered the room. It was a near 100% hit rate. This 'player' was just standing in the room, not really trying to quest or interact, just being mildly annoying, and apparently getting entertainment from the people entering the room and falling.

Thinking about this phenomenon and the times that I have encountered it, it is something that is almost always triggered by a single player in a room. When that player leaves the room or is on a quest, there is no problem, but as soon as they return to the room, people drop like flies. I believe that it is safe to say that the player in question does use a modified save, however I don't believe that causes this issue.

What I am left with is a little disturbing and annoying. I am wondering whether they could have been deliberately using a lag switch to disrupt the data flowing from peer to peer. The time when you enter a room is when the game must add your peer to the peer group, and synchronize you with the rest of the group. If something prevents that synchronization from happening, there will be an error. the most logical thing for the game to do at that point is to reset and resync. Which would more than likely result in your character apparently dying as it's initialized and synchronized.

It seemed like a deliberate act of disruption to the guild room. What do you think folks? Could it be deliberate?

well i think it is possible for some one to deliberately cause lag. it is hard to tell if it is accidental or intentional. switch rooms, then he won't be causing the lag.

Lol, funny how you brought this up but I was the one there. I wasn't doing anything but happen to be bored and wanted to check players from this board and gamefaqs out. See how they look like in person. If you asked that girl in your guild I think her name was Elizabeth. When I entered same thing happened to me too. And no I wasn't using a modded save file or anything. But I do have a question for you since you are the one that brought this up. You banned me for this reason? lol. I am not sure if guild have an option to ban people but to ban someone cause he happen to join your guild when the glitch happen is stupid. My character is TheKid from Prime Knights and I got nothing to hide. If you think my +8 TK is hacked then I pity you. Thought the well respect ppl on this board would know better between a hacked character then one that's not. Just want to clear this out. Ban me here too if y'all want. lol

You're overthinking it. I was the other random person in the room at the time. Me and my friend, (TheKid), just wanted to check out the well respected people of this board. It just so happened that at the time, for some reason people were dying as soon as they'd join the room. I have no idea why this happened, but it was not intentionally caused by either one of us, and I can honestly tell you that neither one of us use a hacked/modded save, we actually very much despise modders/hackers... Apparently you blocked both of us from your guild assuming that we were screwing with you guys but we were just there to meet you.. =/

There are certainly better ways to introduce yourself...

lol vaskov17, they don't have to upload new content at all, the quests are on every PS3, not the servers. To have new quests, we need a patch, the servers only need to allow the quests to unlock.
