	Log in to remove this advertisement Chelskiman ypu just took the words right out of my mouth. There are tons of members in my forums that started from being a guest. It is where neo gets a lot of it's activity. Guests are really good for a forum and can bring tons of activity to it so yeah you could say that. Some cause trouble and need to be dealt with but so do some members. Also there is no such thing as "freedom" once you enter an internet site. You are under the power of the creator of the site and the staff the works on it. 	“Freedom of Speech” lol. Most people asking for this are people who love to offend others anonymously and call that their freedom of Speech. I guess there is no right or wrong about this topic, just opinions. I started as a reader only here, then as a guest poster and after I saw I will hang around regularly here, I made myself an account. I guess it is not different with many others. In my opinion, it is very cool to allow guest postings because you do not have to take any hurdles. Just enter a few lines of info and you can post/ask what you look for. This is indeed a kind of Freedom you do not see regularly on other forums and I like it the way it is. But on the other hand, making an account doesn’t take long and you can also login through other Services where you have an account already so Neoseeker makes it very easy to become a member. I also know that having no membership requirement makes it a lot easier to start a rant just for the sake of it and because it is so easy to do and I think, a good portion of these postings would go away if the posters would have to create an account first. Handling the unappreciated postings with IP bans is from personal experience not that often a solution. If the user has a static IP and you can ban the IP or an IP range, it can work but in EU region for example, most people have a dynamic IP and in the morning, they post from their office, in lunch time, they post from their Smartphone and in the evening they post from their Laptop/Ipad so they are not easy to catch and question is, if it is even worth your time to try. People who want to create a stir will always find a way to do so. So you will never get a hold of the hard liners but you may get the lazy ones if you implement a mandatory registration. Main question in my opinion is how those who have to handle the postings from guest posters feel about it. I don’t know how many postings there are per week to moderate. Sometimes I see postings from guests going into the moderation queue but I have no clue about what amount we talk here and how many of the guest postings are only meant to create a stir and have to be moderated or deleted. I know that there are more guests who post offensive content than members do but I can’t tell if it is a real problem. People running and working for such forums use their spare time for Moderation and if you have to wipe out several postings each day from “I do it because I can”-users, I know it can get on your nerves. So if the moderators feel it is a good idea to disallow guest postings here, I am cool with it but would prefer to leave it as it now. But that’s all coming from a plain user perspective.

	i still think it might be a bad idea to make the place members only...even though guest could see the post they might be hesitant to register to get an answer..there are lots of people like that i started as a guest, the game might have less people now doing that might kill it all together and all that will be left are the few members here. Adrienne is doing a great job but if you feel that might help you even a little bit go for it.. i will respect your decision!

What the other moderators said is a really good point, it's easier to not register at first if you only need to ask a quick question. This is the most important thing to know, I think. If most guests aren't trying to flame someone, it's not needed to make the forum member-only. It depends if these guests are posting many topics a day or if it's just from time to time. Many of us can remove the messages from view anyway, it doesn't stay visible for long when it's a flaming post.

As I've said before, there's always bad eggs in every bunch, even members. Members can be offensive as well, and in fact, they are probably worse than guests in some aspects. Guests are a vital part of any community, so pushing them away is going to cause this forum more harm in the long run as people are less likey to join up. 	if nobody notice moderators are mentions activity in every post because they need open forum for advertisements it's all about money,less guests less money.and real problem here are not guest it's members who posts as guests when they don't want to be revealed to everyone and they are making all the trouble around forum.

	In my opinion, this is not a good idea at the moment. I don't know how much moderating you have to do now Adrienne, but you are doing a great job on keeping the forums clean. As a regular user of the forum, I've experienced very little problematic content after you became a moderator. This discussion is better left for when the forum is starting to resemble the Geonet message board... Let the guests speak their mind for now. If the posts get offensive, remove them, but some leeway might be a good thing. I'm not talking about the "freedom of speak" nonsense, but there is value in getting input from other people than the regulars. Some people might find it difficult to voice their opinion unless they can be somewhat anonymous, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they will abuse this privilege. I also agree with the input of the other moderators. Recruitment to the forum may suffer from it being members only regarding posting. From experience, I'd say that quite a few people want to first see if it's worthwhile to create an account before they do it, and it's not just because of the effort needed to create an account. When you make a forum profile and use it, you will become more of a "public figure" than before. I've been recognised in-game as a poster, and although I just found it amusing, other players may not want that kind of attention. This post suddenly got a lot larger than I meant it to be, but this is a very important decision to make. It may effect the WKC2 forum in ways you/we have not anticipated, and it should not be taken lightly. The discussion is good to have for future use, but please postpone the decision until the time guest posters becomes a massive problem. As I feel it, being a moderator comes with a big responsibility, and duties as well. One of your duties is to keep the forums clean, and blocking guest posters seems to me like taking the easy route. If the guest posters make it a considerable hardship to moderate the forum, and thus have a detrimental effect on your other duties, that's the time where a decision needs to made.
