Word on the street is 2K Marin's XCOM shooter is being rebranded. Rumors sparked after folks noticed publisher Take-Two had registered several domains: thebureau-game.com, thebureau-game.net and whathappenedin62.com.
Rumors are always rumors until proven otherwise, but in this case, I wouldn't be at all surprised. See, Firaxis' more old-school XCOM: Enemy Unknown turned out to be a huge hit when it was released last year, and if Take-Two and 2K were hoping to continue that franchise by keeping its classic strategy style, then it'd make sense to change the unreleased XCOM shooter to something else.
So now we have the possibility of seeing The Bureau released under 2K Marin, rather than another XCOM. The title hasn't had a smooth development, to say the least. Since 2005, it's gone through several iterations with multiple studios, including 2K Australia, Irrational Games, and current developer 2K Marin.
From what I've seen, the game has a pretty unique visual style, and I'd actually like to see it complete and shipped out to the masses.
