Honest to god I meant to get these done sooner. Somehow though, I ended up with a couple hours of homework from my Art Class. Nope, AP Math and English were all nice and free and clear, and BAM! Hours of homework from an elective. Also, there was a Gaga interview on tonight, so I couldn't miss that :3 Since I've got a meet tomorrow, comments will be fairly short and to-the-point. If you want a more in-depth summary, shoot me a PM and I'll get back to you after the meet :3

Witches cauldron, pretty nice. Your style still looks pillowshaded a bit. I'm not a fan of using Ghastly for vapor too much, looks too recognizable. Outline (from what I can see) looks nice.

Welcome to spriting try to avoid using MS colors, and similar colors as much as possible. They're too bright and look unnatural. The outlines on your scratching are also too thick. There are also some other outline problems.

Someone's been gone a very long time The rainbow looks too jagged to me, and the beard looks like there's too much on one side. With the angle, even though there is the same amount of beard on both sides, with a little bit of an angle, less will show on one side.

Be careful to make sure the cracks in your stone match the shading. Make sure you don't have too much black outline, and there's one red pixel on the claw on our left. The overall composition of the body looks too rounded to really scream gargoyle to me.

Shockingly the only trainer of the round. Kimono-claid Wizard ftw! It's not bad, the white needs some more outline, be careful that your outline on the arms matches the outline on the body. Also, choose a light source and stick with it.

I do like it, but there are a few things that bother me. Firstly, I don't really like her there's the big shoulders, the big hands, but the little arms, it just looks like there's something missing. Second, the pattern on the belly, it looks too symmetric for the angel of the body. There's also two different hues of brown going on in the outline, pick one.

I'll be quite honest, I'm very shocked at the lack of entries for this round. Last time this theme came up (back in Pokemon Diamond... circa 2008) there were 19 entries. No, not 9, not ten, nineteen! Such things seem to be completely unheard of these days. Yes, I will change the theme, but I hope we don't forget what these contests used to have, several avid followers, who, even if they didn't particularly like the round, would still take a stab at it, whether to improve their own skills, or to just have a bit of fun.
New Theme: Cosplay
This seemed to be requested over in the White Competition, so let me elaborate. The term "Cosplay" refers to a Pokemon Trainer who dresses up to resemble a Pokemon. In this way, they differ with Gijinkas, who are Trainers who are fused with a Pokemon. Keep in mind that this is a cosplay round.

The homecoming dance, hoped that would be a little apparent after I mentioned the homecoming parade.

I can see you've been practicing a little bit while you've been away, but you've also missed the comments that we give over here. There are a few little things that I need to comment on here. Firstly, I didn't really recognise this as Omastar at first, I thought it was some odd Ben10 thing or something. The tentacles threw my off a little bit. The Tentacles in Omastar are much more understated. I also think you need more black outline, particularly in the far arm and the helmet. Be careful with the rest of your outline, there's some blue outline in the legs. Finally, the sprite also looks a little bit overshaded, most black and white sprites don't have more than two shades in the clothes (or in this case tentacles).

Trainers are quite a bit different than normal sprites aren't they? I don't like how dark the outline is on the left side of the skirt. The skirt itself also looks flat right there. I also feel like you need more black outline on the piece of hair on the right side of the body. Overall, it just looks kind of bland, kind of boring. I'm glad to hear it was fun though!

I'm so glad to see that you gave this theme a try! I think you do need a little bit more practice with trainers though. The hair in particular catches my eye. Trainer hair isn't really shaded like that usually, it follows the same general rules about light source that the rest of the sprite has to follow. I love your interpretation for the clothes however, so glad that you didn't do the stereotypical long white flow-ey dress for this one. However, I think there are some stray yellow pixels by the red piece in the back.

I absolutely love this idea! The execution is pulled off so well, its just brilliant! There are a few little things I have to comment on though. I think you may have forgotten to recolor the outline on the little one's hair, and the daddy's hair looks a little bit awkward, like its not shaded well. Try not to shade in straight lines. The outfits however, are pretty spot on for Kangaskhan!

You are NOT RUBBISH!! I would never say that, you know that. You might want to be a little less hard on yourself, because this really isn't a bad cosplay! In fact, I really don't have that many comments! First, I don't like how pillowshaded the front looks. Pillowshading here having the meaning of shading consisting of simply a thin band of shadow close to the outline. I also don't really like where the shirt meets the pants, I think you need a more definitive outline.

Meowth Cosplay I do believe. It's alright, did you scratch it? To me, this looks like a trainer that would belong more in the GBA era than in today's trainer sprites. Most trainers sprites do not face away from the viewer, and those that do usually turn their heads at least a little bit towards the viewer. This sprite is just looking plain away from the viewer. I also think the yellow in the hair is too bright. It isn't too related to Meowth, and draws the eye. Finally, you do need more black outline!

Suicune love <3 ! This is a pretty cool sprite, Suicune obsession aside. There are some shading problems, mostly in the torso, which you've sneakily covered up with pattern (clever!) I think the main thing that bugs me is the hair, I mean, it represents Suicune and all, but it just doesn't look natural for a trainer. Also check your outline on the hair in relation to your light source (namely on the left side). The top of th eleft leg also needs some light outline. Thank you for the suicune cosplay

I do love your trainers, though I'm almost one-hundred percent certain that I've either seen this somewhere before or judged this before. My only real qualm with this sprite is proportion, that the legs seem too short for the body. Well done!

I'll be honest, this is one of my favorite entries of the round, but it kind of misses the point of "cosplay". Generally a Cosplay is a Human dressed in clothes (usually involving the hair too) to resemble a Pokemon. There are really two things that take away from this, the first and more important of these is that there are no feet! The second here is the face or mask / skull thing. Even if it was a mask, the eyes just don't look human-like. As far as the technical aspect, this sprite really is very good.

Oddish

You guys really need to get more positive, simplicity is a lot of times a good thing, and when used well, can stop a sprite looking chaotic or cluttered. Personally, I really like this, I think it is a good representation of Oddish. However, I'm really not a huge fan of fusing Pokemon sprites and trainer sprites together, I prefer scratch, maybe a little harder, but the result generally fits the sprite better. This time however, it looks pretty good (more gijinka than cosplay but still good). Basic and simple really fits this sprite well, as Oddish itself is basic and simple. There's no need to over-complicate things.

Anyone remember a few weeks ago, like five weeks ago, when I jacked up my hand? It's still nasty swollen... so if my comments are short (which I hope not, I tried to be good for you guys) here's why.

We still only have four entries! Come on guys, we still have two more days! I'm sure we can get at least one more.

Alright, I know this is sudden, I didn't see it coming either, but it's my time to step down. I do not have the time to devote here to the contests any longer. Well, that's not the best way to say it, I don't really think I've had the time in the past few months. I've been trying as hard as I can to keep these contests running well, but I can tell that I have been failing. For that I sincerely apologize, I consider you all my family, my brothers and sisters, and I really don't enjoy letting you all down time and time again. I've been thinking about this little by little, its been coming on for a little while, and now I think its time. I know you all have changed me for good.
ElectricArcanine please take care of this contest for me. Black is my little baby, I raised her up from Platinum when I was learning to judge with JosiePika and Squirrel Lord. I've been watching over her for over two years, and I know she's in good hands. I'll still be popping in every now and again if you have any questions, or need help with anything. Aether and Pheonyx are also still around if you need help with something more urgent.
As this contest is my baby, I'm going to leave my personal goodbye here too, there's no need to go all sentimental on every contest. Spriting really and truly has left a deep impression on me, and I've grown to really care for many of the other spriters around me. I've always looked up to the greats, and learned as much as I could from them, FourthBeat and Lost Eventide (Arya) in particular inspired me from the very beginning. All the wonderful friends I've met along the way have kept me going, Aether Corey13 Squirrel Lord and gothicunicorn I think were my closest friends from spriting. There are two other very special thank you's I have to give out before I part. The first of which is to JJoploo who has been such a competitor with me from the very beginning. We were both new right around the same time, and at least twice competed against each other in the Tournaments. I feel that she pushed me to be the very best that I could be, so she holds such a special place for me. Second is CJames21. I've watched you grow from the very beginning. I don't know exactly why, but you've carved such a distinct place in my memory. You've grown to be so extraordinary, there really are not words I know to describe this feeling. This goes beyond pride, I am proud to have seen you grow so much yes, but there's something deeper there. I hope you continue to grow, and can lead new spriters down the path that you yourself have trod.

Well, being 'around' and being 'here at the contest' are a little bit different. With ElectricArcanine 's permission, I'd like to be able to be here to make sure this place is still alright. I recognize that I'm not a judge here anymore, but I still love this contest, and would rather pull another hostile takeover than see it die.
