How do I get into someone else's world on Entralink?

So, recently my friend and I were wanting to do entralink together, so I could go into his white forest and he into my black city and help each other get more residents. So we both got on entralink and walked onto the bridge part and waited and waited but nothing ever happened. We were sitting right next to each other in person. Why wasn't entralink able to see him nearby to my entralink and let me cross over, and visa versa? Were we doing something wrong?

So we're not both supposed to be in the entralink at the same time?

This is a idea I have why dosnt every one on pokemon black and white go on the etralink and have a entralink party see who can jet more misions done that and I'm bored so hears the rules #1 you must have at least 1 partner.#2 each person can only have 3 pokemon from level 1 to 79.#3 you can only have 2 legenday and 1 starter. #4 every one must give 1 pokemon egg 1 relic item 1 big.#5 absoluty no revives or potions after a battle you can heal and revive now basicaly its like a pokemon tornament.#6 every one wil enter the entralink through nimbasa city to my entralink in 1 day.#7 there will be 5 rounds the first round will be the ones to enter and advance to the next round.there will be five days of the tournament. Each day is one round one break day on christmas.each round will have there own special rules I will explain each round rules after each round these rules will make each round more interesting and exciting this will be a very exciteing tornament. Prepare your self and chose your pokemon team wisely.

Round one rules thease will be a one on one battle against a random opponent I pick if I walk in front of you and stop your next to battle.three pokemon only and your pokemon can only hold barries. If you won the battle turn. To your rite side and start or join the advansing line.all I need is your profile name and trainer Id so I know who advances.

You guys.. this is an old thread which has already been resolved.

Also, entralink only works with people around you in person, not with friends on wifi.

You're supposed to know it's an old thread because all posts are timestamped.

You're supposed to know it doesn't work over Wi-Fi because the game makes it clear it's not for Wi-Fi.
