Early in-game experience favors physical Attack EVs

You've probably seen the FAQs for D/P/Pt and HGSS that list the best places to go for EV training. So now that the English names are confirmed, I thought that I'd do a quick list of the early routes in BW.

The really surprising result was that the large majority of the wild encounters that you get early on provide Attack EVs. That's great for training a physical attacker, but it kinda sucks if you want to structure the EVs on a Special Attacker (think Oshawott) or a defensively oriented pokemon (e.g. Serperior).

Sigh - I guess I'll just have to shove a few Kelpsey Berries down their throats once I reach a point where EV re-training is viable (and Kelpsey berries become available).

Here's the list of the first seven routes:

Does not include ground Shaking Spots or Pokemon on a route that need Surf or Fishing to access.

Tepig starters will have an even easier time then.

That doesn't really bother me, since EV's don't matter for an in-game team.

Big whoop, as if anyone would care to actually EV their in-game team. Those who do are just not appreciating the game by itself.

Ulairi while I can appreciate the novelty of trying to do this, it really does take away from just playing the game itself - but also, many great pokemon aren't available until after the E4 or trading (in order to breed egg-moves), and it's impossible to get correct natures in-game...so using your in game team competitively would almost always put you at a disadvantage.

Not that you can't EV wipe maybe one or two of them

Ulairi got it... If you're only battling casually, then you can absolutely use your in-game team.

Battling competitively implies worrying about EV training and natures...

Plus this is pretty helpful for most people who need to Atk EV train post main game anyway.
