Generation II:Feraligatr

Generation III:Blaziken

Generation IV:Torterra

The best

Gen I:Charizard for sure.He's cool,powerful and mega useful!
Gen II:Feraligatr FTW.Again he's very strong,nice looking and the only starter that is useful in the battle vs Lance!
Gen III:Sceptile.The first grass type starter that can "hide your ball" even vs strong types like fire,dragon and ice!Sooo damn awsome!
Gen IV:They all 3 are good.
Gen V:Jalorda all the way!Good abillity.very nice stats!

The worst

Gen I:Blastoise.He's good but compared to Venusaur and Charizard he sucks.
Gen II:Meganium.Meganium is one of the pokemon with great defences avarage hp,avarage speed and very very bad movepool.But still it can annoy you with some attacks like leach seed,toxic and blabla.
Gen III:Blazikan.Ok he's god amazing attack and good sp.attack nice stats and movepool but bad speed!So what is he?A sweeper?Nope...not enough speed.
Gen IV:All 3 are good.
Gen V:The fire pig.It sucks,it's ugly low speed =>NU or with little luck UU.

The avarage starters

Gen I:Venusaur-Sleep powder,leach seed,good speed.Almost perfect grass type!
Gen II:Typhlosion-Eruption,Focus blast,Extra sensory,Focus Punhc,Thunder punch-amazing fire type but limited movepool.
Gen III:Swampert-with 2 words- almost perfect.With only 1 weakness(grass) it can defend it self and can hit really hard!
Gen IV:All 3 are good.d
Gen V:The water dude.The last water starter is very strange.I think it looks good,good attacks,no eq sadly but oh well.

All of them are good and strong.It really matters what role will the starter play in your team.I suggest for:
Attacking starter use-Charizard,Venusaur,Typhlosion,Feraligatr,Sceptile,Blazikan,Empoleon,Infernape,Jaroda,The fire pig and the water thing
Defenders-Blastoise,Meganium,Swampert,Torterra.
I used everyone of them and I can say each one can be attacking pokemon.If u want attacking blastoise pass him some speed and attack or sp.attack and he'll be great.The same thing goes for meganium and the others.
Don't think the starters are bad!Some are just better then others!!!

In no particular order:

1) Venusaur
2) Meganium
3) Sceptile
4) Torterra
5) Daikenki

This but generation 5 is a tie between Emboar/Snivy.

Generation I: Charizard, then Blastoise, lastly Venusaur.
Generation II: Typhlosion, then Feraligator, Then Meganium.
Generation III: SWAMPERT!!, then Blazekin, then Sceptile( althogh in the TV show Sceptile is the best ut in the game I didnt like him much)
Generation IV: Torterra(might be the best starter or second best after Charizard ever), then infernape, then Empoleon.
Generation V: didnt memorise names of last evelotion so sorry, Snivey, water starter, Tehpig ( God, the name is stupid Tehpig)

Stage 1
Gen I: Bulbasaur
Gen II: Chikorita
Gen III: Mudkip
Gen IV: Turtwig
Gen V: Snivy. All the way

Final Stage
Gen I: Venusaur. So many memories.
Gen II: Typhlosion
Gen III: Sceptile, best Grass starter until Jalorda
Gen IV: Torterra
Gen V: Jalorda. best Grass starter since Sceptile

I like Grass starters. Mainly just because, but partly because it makes the game more challenging
