neoseeker may not be a pokemon only site, but it doesn't stop it being one of the most active sites for trading pokemon - actually it probably is the number 1 pokemon trading site. Every member in the HGSS trading forum is looking for trading pokemon, so I consider this part to be almost a pokemon site in its own right. Plus, if you look at how these other pokemon-only sites are structured, you just click on the trading forum on their thread directory and get led to a forum built in an almost identical way to the HGSS trading forums as a whole. For that reason, i don't actually see any reason why adding a quick trade thread here should be any different to those other pokemon-dedicated sites except for the 30 page limit - which I admit would be a problem, and I don't know if you have any way of fixing that.

I do agree that it would condense a lot of the forums activity into one thread, but I think that's the reason everyone's recommended it so far. It means that shops will stay on the front page for longer, without having to wait for a thread with 2 people doing a trade for a ho-oh that keeps getting bumped to the top of the forum, when it could easily be done via pm. That is the whole point of the quick trade thread, it does condense a substantial amount of forum activity into one thread, and that is exactly the reason why i'm recommending it. This is the most active thread on neoseeker after all.

I think that's what Gotenks was saying was never gonna happen when he mentioned this not being a pokemon-only site, although i think it would be a good idea. Would work like it does on bulbapedia - there's no limit on it, and considering the amount of trades going on i don't see why the pokemon forums on neoseeker should necessarily be any smaller than even the largest pokemon-dedicated sites' forums. I don't know how making new forums works on neo though, i can imagine it's a lot more complicated than just posting a new thread!

Fair enough then, at least there's a very legitimate reason with the 30 page limit And yeah, examples never hurt anyone (apart from my reputation it would seem haha). Well if you're considering splitting into subforums for general trading and shops, I'd back that 100%, that's what I was most sceptical about though. it would be great if it could happen!

I'm not sure that the shops warrant their own subforum at this time. I just did a HUGE update after completely dropping the ball on the shops thread listing we started so hopefully that'll help our problem of shops being lost into the abyss of the forum a bit, and I'll be trying to keep it better updated from here on in. We can continue to see how that goes and go from there.

As for a subforum for shops, when I was in Health and Fitness, we created a subforum for the Public Journals because the journals were starting to clutter up the pages and other threads that had completely different topics were getting overwhelmed by all the journals. They were mostly separated to keep it better structured from an organizational standpoint, and it helped some of the other threads stay on the front page and get a bit more attention for longer.

The reference to H&F is somewhat relevant because it's a similar situation with the shop threads. There are A LOT of shops, to say the least, and they do take up a good portion of the forum and they can somewhat detract from random trade request/offer threads. However, on the other hand a shop thread is really little more than a very large [Offer] thread, and because it's so similar I'm not sure it would be the best idea to separate the shops from the rest of the forum. But then on the other hand, they take up a lot of space and someone making a random request seems unlikely to want to go into a shop and will instead make their own thread, and more of the regulars here tend to frequent the shops, or that seems the trend to me anyway.

I'm not necessarily for or against the idea. I think that to get a better assessment of which direction is best, we should continue with the shop listing thread a bit longer. A request can always be made in the site Requests, Feedback, and Suggestions forum if anyone does want to formally suggest it.


Additionally, if anyone wants to take a look at this suggestion that pertains to the forum and comment in that thread, that'd be awesome. The idea presented in the first post is pretty much proposing a merger of all of the Pokemon Trading and Battle forums, along with requesting a Pokemon Battle Stragegy forum for members to just discuss battle strategies. There's a lot of disconnect between the trading forums, and I think it'd be a good idea to merge them, and I like the idea of having a battle strategy forum. It's already got a good amount of support but it never hurts to have more people go in and support it if anyone so desires.

That actually isn't a bad idea Insanity. Hopefully Gex and Love agree with me on this as I'm gonna sneak that into the header right now.

Merging HG/SS Trading with Diamond? I didn't know that was being considered...

I am 100% opposed to this idea. It's obvious that the Diamond forum is for pretty much events only, and the HGSS forum for everything else. The other forums i can see merging fine, but please, please leave the Diamond forums out of it. Seriously I don't think i've seen a single non-event trade there in the past month and it really is a different kind of trading forum altogether.
