	The main cast and executive producers' contracts are all up at the end of this coming season. There were some murmurs last week about the network pressing the creators to sign on for season 9, which would obviously drag it out for all of us. Segel has publicly said he wants out, and Cobie Smulders just had her face in the biggest movie of the summer. Hannigan might be on TV for the rest of her life and Ted should just be happy to be there. I don't think there's any present or former fan out there who would rather know in May 2014 than May 2013. 	I'm ready for the show to be finished, but if there's one more season to go I really don't want them to get into a "Quick! Everyone's contract is almost up so we need to rush this!" mindset. 	I don't think rushing it was ever going to happen. Thomas/Bays have always said that once they know it's the last season, they have an endgame from the premiere episode (most likely some sort of teasing flash forward). CBS said today that they were "optimistic" about season 9 even though season 8 has yet to film. Who can say, I just feel the same as I do about Dexter, Breaking Bad and all these other fractured finales: just get down to it already, don't make me wait another year.
