OKay tumblr, I'll continue enjoy characters such as River Song, Agatha Cristie and Lara Croft while my musings on the reasons behind changing the gender of a iconic, male British character makes me think all women are useless and have no place in entertainment. Hardcore fans piss me off. They did it to make it more contemporary or whatever apparently. I was confused by it myself, but she's an alright actor if I can look past the fact he's traditionally male. D I O S - I personally thought the premiere/pilot was the worst episode they had. 	It was an alright premiere, although obviously no BBC Sherlock. Kinda disappointed by JLM's Sherlock right now. He seems to be stumbling about a bit and seems... I don't know... a little dulled down. Also don't like how they've decided to sexualise Sherlock. >_< Holmes just doesn't seem as complex as other iterations have made him to be. Holmes is regarded as one of the most complex literary characters in the world and that didn't translate well in Elementary. Seems like a straight forward guy who is recovering from drugs with a high IQ. He doesn't "seem" genius. Also, what is the point of Watson? As D I O S mentioned, it doesn't matter if it was a man or women, it doesn't identify as Watson. There wasn't much point to the character at all. I'll continue watching because, if nothing else, the show was enjoyable. But if it continues on like this... it's not going to go well because right now it seems like a regular, formulaic American Crime Drama with the names Sherlock and Watson slapped in there. ------------------- "Run you clever boy, and remember"

Nail on the head there mate. The one thing that the BBC got spot on with was making Sherlock look, sound and be a massive standout from the rest of the characters. The thing that hooked me in on the BBC drama was the moments of brilliance, the elegance of it. Benedict Cumberbatch makes the character a bit arrogant as well, which if you are the genius that is 10x better than everyone else, you would be arrogant and as they so commonly use 'bored'. I really couldn't agree more with that statement -------------------

	I'm a really big fan of Sherlock Holmes, I've read the books, seen all the Basil Rathbone movies, saw the Jeremy Brett Series, and Obviously, Sherlock. Elementary isn't trying to be as great as any of these shows, because they'd obviously need a bigger budget than Sherlock, which is movie budget high. CBS made this series because of all the popularity Sherlock brought up so that they could make a'lot of money from it. The changing of the characters was mainly just to draw fans to a new light of it, which honestly isn't really explaining much of the change. But with only 3 episodes at a time, I'm a bit unfulfilled by them. 	This is shaping up to be one of my favorite shows. If you ask me, comparing it to BBC's Sherlock or even Doyle's is utterly stupid. It's essentially impossible for anything to measure up to the work of someone else. I would be interested to hear what the naysayers have to say now, assuming they've been keeping up with the show.
