Plot:
Set in the 1860s it centers on former confederate soldier Cullen Bohannan, whose quest for vengeance has led him to the Union Pacific Railroad's westward construction of the first Transcontinental Railroad.

Cast:
- Anson Mount as Cullen Bohannon, a former Confederate soldier who is determined to avenge the death of his wife.
- Common as Elam Ferguson, a recently freed slave who is trying to find his place in the world.
- Dominique McElligott as Lily Bell, a recent widow; her husband was a surveyor working on the transcontinental rail project.
- Colm Meaney as Thomas "Doc" Durant, a businessman and investor in the transcontintental railroad, where he hopes to make his fortune.
- Ben Esler as Sean McGinnes, a young man looking to make his fortune in the west.
- Philip Burke as Mickey McGinnes, Sean's brother, who, like his brother, is looking to make money in the west.
- Eddie Spears as Joseph Black Moon, a Native American who must choose between the new world and the traditions of his ancestors.

Pilot is airing now and so far it's been pretty good. Brutal at times too with people getting gunned down at point blank range, scalping and with arrows getting shot and quite literally jammed into a person's throat. Haven't been into a good western setting series since Deadwood, so hopefully this delivers in quality.

this is the very first I have heard of it and I'm watching it.

I enjoyed it last night after walking dead. Looked BEAUTIFUL in 1080p

I thought the first episode was pretty tight. It reminded me so much of Deadwood, but in a good way.

I'll echo DMD's sentiments about Westerns. They're my favorite genre by far so I'm stoked to see what this show can do.

s01e02 - "Immoral Mathematics" (Spoilers!)

Officially a fan of this series now. Love the grittiness of it, like when that lady was sewing up her wound. Good episode too and I laughed when Cullen said he blew up the tracks with a half a keg of black powder. lol.

I thought the 3rd episode was pretty good! Definitely better than what we got last week.

Didn't have a ton of action, but the character development/interaction was class. Durant was terrific this episode, especially with his little speech near the end in the church sermon.

Cullen gunning down those horseback riders was awesome and Common in the whorehouse was well shot as well.

Just a very enjoyable episode. Best one yet, IMO.

I agree, Dragonmaster Dyne. That was a very fine episode.

Latest one (Episode 5) wasn't up to par. That fight had way too long of a setup and it seemed rather....pointless? Why were Bohannon and Elam fighting? Seems like the two had an understanding of each other and were allies (sort of). I dont know, seemed out of place. But the fight itself was entertaining.

Not too much else happened. Apparently the Indians are going to try and stop the railroad expansion, so we will see what happens there.

And the Preacher's daughter being inserted? Lame.

Hmm. Didn't give a review last week.

I thought the latest episode, Revelations, was pretty entertaining for the most part. I enjoyed the backbone Lillie showed with her dead husband's family, and the shootout at the end was great. Loved Elam putting a bullet straight through the dude's mouth.

The only thing is that this season ends in only a handful of episodes and.....we dont really have a main plot point yet. Sure, Cullen is trying to track down his wife's killer, but.....what's going on with that? Apparently he isn't working on the railroad anymore and that was his main source for finding information.

It's almost like this show was heading down a main trail and has branched off so severely from the path that it can't decide how to get back on track.
