2011 Primetime Emmy Awards

What a tough year. A lot of the nominations are top shelf.

Few thoughts:

Lol @ Modern Family getting the full sweep this year. Hopefully one of the girls can beat Sue Sylvester! (I really hope Sofia Vergara gets a win sometime soon, she's too good)

Also, don't think I could be any happier with my Friday Night Lights turn out. Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, and the show itself all getting nominated. If any one of them won their respective category I'd be a happy duck.

Lead Actor in a Comedy is brutal this year. All of those actors are heavyweights (regardless of if I like them or not). I assume the nominations are based on single episodes. And I assume that Steve Carell's nomination is for "Goodbye, Michael." If all those assumptions are true, they HAVE to give Steve Carell the Emmy. That was one of the best performances period. TV. Movie. Drama. Comedy. If Steve Carell loses, I don't think I could be happy even if FNL, Kyle Chandler, and Connie Britton ALL won.

As far as Best Drama goes, if it can't be FNL, it better be Game of Thrones. I know everyone thinks I hate it, which isn't true. I just think it could be better, is all. It definitely deserves the Emmy, though. I'll be thoroughly pissed if Boardwalk Empire takes the win.... I hate that *bleep*ing show.

And then, possibly the only "lock" on the list is Peter Dinklage for Best Supporting Actor Drama.

I fully believe that Luke deserves a nomination. He's insanely good. I love when someone will tell him something and then he'll go off into his own world thinking about it while the rest of the scene goes on. it happens often and is always hilarious. I've definitely missed dialogue because I'll be watching Luke and laughing my ass off at how confused he is.

EDIT: Lol, I had 2012 up for a while. I was thinking about Batman and forgot what year it was.

Nothing for Community is pretty lame. They did so much impressive technical stuff this year (sound in D&D, claymation).

They won the Emmy for animation for "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas." It's one of the pre-show awards.

It definitely had a so-so second season. Glee could not maintain the energy and freshness of the first season, and began to collapse on a heap of top 40's hits and recycled storylines, culminating in one of the most disappointing season finale's I've ever seen. As much as Chris Colfer deserves his acting nods, I've always found it strange that he's nominated in the comedy category (I realize that Glee falls into both comedy and the dramatic), when his acting ability only surges during Glee's most dramatic scenes. He is far from the same comedic acting league when up against the likes of the cast of Modern Family, yet brilliant as a dramatic actor.

I still can't believe NPH has never won. Season 6 won't really cut it since it was more about Segel's character anyway, but from what I've heard the upcoming season they may be making a stronger push for the show by going back to the roots a little.

Doubt shows are going to jump categories. If Louie, United States of Tara, Nurse Jackie etc all stay comedies then you'd better bet Glee is going to. I don't know how to call it in the supporting actor comedy race.. three previous winners and Ed O'Neill, Ty Burrell and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Gonna have to look into what each actor chose to submit.

As much as Episodes sucked, Matt LeBlanc was actually awesome. And Hugh Laurie has NEVER won. Broken should've been his win.

Game time tonight. Will probably just be following live tweet or imdb feed, but here's my bets:
