I think Theon will turn at some point. They are setting him up as sympathetic so it's more of a surprise perhaps but he'll hopefully still be the driving force behind the attack on Winterfell.

Well, they had an episode with Frey in season 1 to set up things in motion for the big event, and I doubt we'll see him again till said event.

As for the Reeds, I'm puzzled by their absence, because they become so prominent in the story arc later on. Maybe they'll be introduced late, or a couple of random people will take their place.

What i'm having trouble understanding is why would Bolton's bastard would sack Winterfell if he was just ordered to take it back. I've read the books and thinking it may mean one thing (RW) but as far as this whole storyline with the season it doesn make much sense. unless it was the Iron Men who blew up everything but that doesn't seem too smart given the circumstances.

MrApples, I recently heard the show described as "a Best Drama Series-worthy show about ice zombies, sorcery, dragons, political backstabbing, real backstabbing, demon babies, and direwolves, with an ample amount of boobs and violence." A lot of that sensation is dialed back in the books, which are separated into chapters based on a handful of characters' points of view. I'd put the reading level somewhere around moderate. There's no question that they're a good series, you'd just have to decide 1) whether you want to know the plot before watching the show and 2) whether you want to jump into a 7 book series several thousand pages long, of which only 5 installments have been released. The good thing of being in the middle of all of that is you'll have something to read for a while.
