	I'm curious, how many of you are fond of Dany as a character? Even at the end of GoT, the book, Dany was my least favorite character of the series. Not in the same way as Cersei, or Joffrey- they're delightfully diabolical, and I loved reading/watching them carry out their evil schemes. Dany, on the other hand, I just plain disliked. Though she wasn't as insistent or idiotic as Viserys, she kept trying to persuade the Khal to invade Westeros. She wants to conquer the Seven Kingdoms, not because out of any sense of helping the people, but simply because it's her "birthright" (though even that is debatable since one could say House Baratheon seized the throne from House Targaryen during Robert's Rebellion, thus voiding any titles for the descendants of the latter), the way a child would want a shiny new toy. Even her greatest advantage, the newly hatched dragons are a fluke, since the eggs were randomly gifted to her, and hatched from some sort of sorcery she had little hand in, except to lend her presence (alright, lend her presence to a bloody bonfire, but whatever). And you know what really irks me? It's the fact that she HAS to win if humanity is to survive. 	I can't speak to the printed series just yet but the show's writing is very fond of Dany. She grew on me. King's Landing is full of people who think they deserve to be king where Dany is someone who knows. She's demonstrated she can rule essentially by earning it - stepping up her efforts to pussywhip Drogo and reaching the final scene of the season. 	Convincing her husband to switch from doggy to cowgirl hasn't got much on ruling Westeros. Thrones are won with strength, as demonstrated at the end of the season. Bloodline doesn't matter- not really. It's just an excuse for a claimant, but it's the swords which decide who rules. I'm sure this sounds silly, but my main problem with the character is her sense of entitlement, something she thinks about at length in the books. 	I thought she knew was was insusceptible to fire, she didn't get burnt when touching the dragon eggs earlier in the season, thought she'd have figured it out then. BrokenKnights, we both went into it expecting the same thing it seems, but after the very first scene of the first episode i figured it'd be more fantasy based, you didn't realise to the last scene of the finale? haha. I was actually quite wrong though, the entire season has been focused on power battles with barely any magic whatsoever. I don't begrudge a little bit at the end. I agree with you that the scene where everyone proclaims Robb the king of the north was the best of the finale though. Powerful. -------------------

Where did you read that? In the book, Dany realises that the eggs are going to hatch and goes in, knowing she's going to be fine. Also, it's hard to dislike Dany, I mean, she's a bit of a douche, but she's only 14... mind you, Robb's only 16, and he's a King. 	Was expecting a more memorable finale if I'm honest. But it has left me very excited for a second season with everyone seemingly moving into place for it. I think Tyrion as the King's Hand will be great, especially given how you see Tyrion treat Joffrey in one of the first episodes. Didn't think Dany was trying to kill herself either, she knew what she was doing (although I only watch the show, not read the books). 	Spoiler:Book Discussion Oh yeah, speaking of Tyrion, I found it really weird that Tywin was nice to him in this episode. I mean, sure, he makes Tyrion Hand in the books, but that's only because he had no choice. He hates Tyrion, I don't know why they changed that scene so much. 	Clearly Tyrion as the kings hand isn't going to end well, there already some conflict between him and Joffrey and he's taking his lady friend with him against his father's wishes. Still think it will end with him defaulting to the Starks side. -------------------

Just somewhere between the first and the last, I forgot. And whenever anything magical was mentioned, it took a back seat to the rest of the plot.
