The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a police officer in the old world, and as their situation grows more and more grim, the group's desperation to survive pushes them to do almost anything to stay alive. On January 20, 2010 AMC officially announced that it had ordered a pilot for a possible series adapted from The Walking Dead comic book series, with Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd acting as executive producers and Darabont writing and directing. The entire series was pre-ordered based just on the strength of the source material, the television scripts, and Darabont's involvement. The pilot began filming in Atlanta, Georgia on May 15 after AMC had officially ordered a six episode first season. The series' remaining episodes began filming on June 2, 2010 with Darabont serving as showrunner. KNB make-up designer Greg Nicotero works on the FX and special effects for the film. Michelle Maxwell MacLaren is in talk to direct the other five episodes, she works formerly for AMC on the Crime Drama series Breaking Bad. The series is completly shot in 16mm. Producer Gregory Melton works as set director and works on the CGI effects. The pilot will run on July 23 as part of the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con International. The series will begin to air on AMC in October 2010 during the network's "Fearfest." Never read the series but I can not wait for this to air. The makeup effects for the zombies look great and it sounds like something worth watching around October, a season that slowly is getting devoid of good horror related programming. AMC is pretty much the only broadcast station that still airs horror movies during October and to see them come out with an entire series devoted to the genre is fantastic news. 	I've read a few of the comics and so far they are pretty good. In them the author said that he didn't want just a zombie comic, but a story with what made the classic zombie movies good. In that it has more of a psychological element to it, like how we don't know who we can actually trust if crap goes down, or when the next time they might have to face another zombie, or even what people will do if they somehow manage to take down all the zombies. 	here's a gallery of zombies amc put up from the first stage of production. they look good, even if that usually doesn't say much to the quality of the horror. amc's original series are enough reason to believe this will kick serious, serious ass. i'm glad someone finally decided to try out a continuing graphic novel in television in a place where it could work really well, hopefully ratings and quality will help make this change the game and spare us from a lot of hurried or plain bad movies. oh and god damn, this is the last year i miss out on comic-con ------------------- lifeadelica.com

	The comic series is one of the best month after month. You guys should really check them out. I've known about the upcoming tv series for a while and have been pretty interested. 	amc is pretty new to the television business and they take their dramas seriously. they get good ratings because they're quality stuff on basic cable and i can't see them canceling anything unless it was some kind of train wreck. since it's a zombie apocalypse tv series on air in the fall i assume people will be talking about it. and as to the graphic novel i'm a couple books in and it's been phenomenal, very impressive gritty style. if you can't wait all summer, just pace yourself through the manga and you'll find yourself even more excited ------------------- lifeadelica.com

	a taste of footage and interviews from the set in atlanta. still vague but cool to see nonetheless. wish they were blocking off my roads for this instead of a stupid robot car blockbuster. but frank darabont is worth looking up as he's probably adapted three of the best stephen king adaptations out there. in any case it means the look and feel of this is going to be good and i'd bet money the writing will as well. ------------------- lifeadelica.com
