Right. I know my comments are baseless seeing as I havne't finished the series yet. But as a premiere, they're valid.

And I guess the other premieres are taste. I feel like each season ENDS spectactularly -- usually answering the season's main question. What happens when you don't push the button? Flash Forward! Oceanic Six get off the island. Hydrogen Bomb.

But then that's it. That part of the story is over and they move on to brand new crap in the next season. It works on a season level I guess, introducing stuff that will bet answered by the end of the season, but makes the series as a whole feel very fragmented. Not to mention the first 1-6 episodes are usually garbage. Season 2 isn't exciting until thr Tailies make it over. Season 3 only gets interesting once Jack and Juliette return. Season 5 doesn't even make sense until the time flashes stop and Sawyer is the big boss of Dharmaville.

Season 4 was actually fantastic through and through - probably my favorite season, just right under 1. It got better as it went on, but the flashforwards were handled very well throughout.

Yeah, I really hated the way it end when I watched in on TV. But rewatching it on DVD, it was less frustrating. And doesn't have the slow burn beginning. I basically just can't think of anything wrong with it.

Maybe I should go back and read what pissed off two pages ago me.

The Shape of Things to Come is one of my favorite post-Season 1 episodes. Terrible, terrible title, but a great episode with a much more "Ben" feel than The Man Behind the Curtain. Also, I liked The Constant substantially more than I remembered, it was pretty good. Even the flash forwards aren't grating my nerves like they did when I watched Season 4 on TV. Kate, however, is grating on my nerves even more than before. I HATE her.

So it looks like I liked it.

Originally when I watched it, I hated it just because of how little "happened". Its sort of the oppostie of the rest of the seasons. Great start with a lackluster finale. But I think I much prefer that to the staus quo.


Afte rewatchign everything on DVD/Blu-Ray, igrnoring Season 6, and the first 3-6 episodes of Season 2-5, I think my order goes:

1 > 2 > 5 > 3 > 4

But looking at the seasons in their entirety it restacks to

1 > 4 > 2 > 3 > 5


5 moving as much as it does because of the flash-whatever-the-hell-we-want and 4 moving so much because 2 and 3 take big hits from episodes like Jack Tatoos, Locke and his Weed, SOS, The Other 48 Days, etc..

1 and 4 seem to deal more with character development over cheap tricks. Whereas 3 and 5 love their cheap tricks, although those tricks do make for spectacular finales.

My brother just watched Seasons 1-5 again, and I caught parts of it while he was watching. And the parts I did see I liked even more than I did the last time. I think, at least for me, knowing the answers to all the questions makes the show alot more enjoyable. I don't have to be constantly "working" and trying to figure stuff out. I just get to enjoy the story and the characters, which remain as strong from Season 1 on. For a first time view though, all the crap they throw in really, really dilutes the quality.

But anyway, after finishing Season 5 again, my one thought was "Damn, Juliette is a great character." Not because of the hydrogen bomb or anything, but because she does exactly what she wants.

I just finished the show by the way. It was a *bleep*ing brilliant end. I wish Desmond's activities in the LA X universe had affected the Island more, but w/e. It was still great. I'll digest and post more later if anyone cares.

Sidenote -- My favorite "pockets" of episodes are Season 2, Henry Gale locked in the hatch and Season 5, LaFleur running Dharmaville.

Yeah apparently its going to tie loose ends such as the Hurley bird and the Dharma supply food drops and hopefully the mysteries surrounding the Cabin. Though as for Walt's abilities, Darlton have found a 'neat way' to answer this question in the bonus material of S6, apparently. And I cannot wait for The New Man in Charge

A couple of months on and the thing from the finale that sticks out most in my head is MiB VS Jack and that hilariously ridiculous (yet brilliantly bad-ass) flying punch from Jack

I fell off my chair laughing at that flying punch. What add's to it more is the expression on Jack's face. It's so dull, no anger or anything. It's like " I don't even care, I throw punches at monsters everyday"

They could get another 2 seasons out of Ben, Hurley and Walt alone. They could call it FOUND.
