current Fringe

This is one of the shows that's caught my eye.

Looks pretty good so far. I love any type of mystery/drama show and if they manage to bring some Sci-Fi action into it then that's even better. Considering it's J.J Abraham as well, you can expect the mythology/sci-fi bit to be quality too. I won't lie, I like the premise but the fact J.J has his name attached to it is the big pull because Alias and Lost are awesome shows so I hope this one turns out the same.

Good solid cast too. John Noble in particular is great.

The big mystery is meant to be related to a plane flying into an airport and when it lands, all the passengers and airline staff are dead. Sounds fun.

Brief Summary: The story centers on a tough, young female FBI agent who is forced to confront the spread of powerful and unexplained phenomena. She must work with an institutionalized research scientist whose life's work may be at the center of the coming storm as well as the man's estranged son. Fringe is the name for a special division of Homeland Security that handles these terrorist/paranormal events.

No surprise that, with the involvement of Abrams, there will be a predominant mythology running through the series. Episodes will also explore self-contained mysteries as well as the relationships between the three leads. From the looks of the pilot script, there will also be a lot of humor.

Casting Info:

Anna Torv is "Olivia Dunham," an FBI Special Agent. She struggles to work with Dr. Bishop and Peter, who doesn't get along with his father.

Joshua Jackson is "Peter Bishop," the son of Dr. Bishop. Peter is a high-school dropout and gambling addict with an IQ of 190.

John Noble is "Dr. Walter Bishop," the scientist institutionalized for the last 20 years. The brilliant scientist is a mix of Albert Einstein and Dr. Frankenstein.

Mark Valley is "John Scott," an FBI Special Agent.

Lance Reddick is "Philip Broyles," the SAC (Special Agent in Charge) of the Fringe division of Homeland Security.

Haven't heard about this before, but reading the plot it looks interesting, so I will definitely tune in (read: stream online).

I take it it will be aired on Sky in the UK? =/

I saw it, while eating spaghetti during the first few minutes. Wasn't exactly the best thing I've done.

The trailer looks stupid. I don't see how this show will be any different than any of the other recent big plot arch mysteries that have been on recently.

I'm excited about this. It reminds me so much of the X-Files.

I just saw the pilot a few minutes ago and I'm excited for the next episode.

I especially want to see what the hell that dancer gave birth to.

I saw the pilot waaay ago it was bloody long so was that the first two episodes of the show? If so, when does the 3rd ep begin?! I saw an advert for it on Sky1 earlier but didn't pay much attention to what it was saying.

Managed to catch up on this with a bit of free time this afternoon. It's good. I love the fake science that they make sound totally plausible. But John Noble is a superb as an actor and character. Joshua Jackson has really done a bang up job and the lead character (Olivia) is really credible and believable.

Also, how bloody scary is Lance Reddick as that homeland security guy. Shit, he scared the crap out of me on The Wire but damn, I think it's those eyes.

Also, the overall arch seems to move bit by bit each episode, enough to keep my going alongside the individual cases coming up.
