This is Devilchilds original post I just copied it since you can't read the link.
After sifting through tons of info, I've amassed a bit of knowledge about vampires. So, here goes:
There are three clans of vampires, one mainly uses combat (swords), another uses magic, and the other generally uses stealth. To become a vampire you must be hit (either hand or weapon) by a vampire. You then have three days to cure the disease (you can use most cure disease magics), otherwise you will become a vampire. You will automatically join the clan of the vampire who turned you. There is no way (other than using console cheats) to change your clan. If you do become a vampire, you will take damage during the daytime (apparently you should be ok after about 8pm) and most NPCs will not talk to you, or associate with you in any way. In fact some may even try to kill you. I have been told that it is impossible to complete the main blades quest if you are a vampire. Therefore it is suggested that you complete all quests you desire to finish, and get to a point in the main quest where you don't need to talk to anybody else (if such a point exists) before becoming a vampire. When you are in a vampire clan, you can do missions for the clan - generally against the other clans. The main bonus to being a vampire is that you get two new spells - One drains HP and gives it to you, the other is an advanced levitate spell. You also get a boost in strength, and some other attributes - I can't remember the exact attributes. Also, you get a bonus for whichever clan you join - either a combat-type, magic-type or stealth-type bonus. When you are a vampire, you cannot recover HP by resting, only by using potions, spells or draining the life from victims (by using the above-mentioned spell). You still recover Magick and Fatigue though. When you rest, you will regularly be awakened, having disturbing dreams, for example dreams of having your mouth sewn up, or dreams of your victims, etc... Now for locations. I don't know where the vampires are exactly. I know that there are some in Morag Amur, but I don't know which clan. There are also apparently some near Balmorra, in an ancestral tomb (I believe it's Serano, or something similar), but again I don't know which clan.
I hope all this info helps anybody who wishes to join the dark side Since I won't be doing it for a while - I've got plenty to do until then - please tell me what it's like.
