yup, this takes place in the 30s. The game is still better though. The missions, action, and violence are much more than GTA. The City is bigger and The Mafia missions are more realistic too.

Id have to say mafia, except the city graphics. The city graphics in mafia suck. Mafias story is about 20 times better than any other story in any action game.

I think The createrors got the Idea From GTA3 and just tweaked a little and set it in the 30's

Your really telling me that this game is better than GTA3 or Vice???? Is there as much to do in Mafia? I heard the cars were slow. How are the weapons?? I will get it, but i am no way thinking it will come close to GTA3. GTA3, to me, is still the best game out there. Vice is really good, but something about GTA3, mostly the story, is better. Either way i will have all three games.

I just got the game and only did mission one. GTA3 started slow too, so i will give it chance. I just didn't like the map so far while i was driving. I need to learn how to put the car in reverse. Does the racing part incresae as you go along in the game? I have a ton of quesitons, but i guess i should play the game more.

Hey thats not nice. GTA3 is legendary. Mafia is a very good game. You really can't compare them. The missions in Mafia are longer and better than GTA3, but GTA3 just has too much. If the next Mafia has radio stations, unique jumps, packages, etc than you can really start comparing. There are problems with Mafia, like the police all over you and the shooting at times, but its a very good game. I heard alot of bad things about the cars, but they are pretty good actually. I haven't really tried the free roam yet, but not really sure if there is anything there.

Mafia kicks GTA3's butt...the graphics in Gt blow and there are so many glitches...

I just finished Mafia and i really liked the ending. I thought the game a great storyline and the missions were longer than GTA3's mission. But GTA3 throws too much at you with a great storyline. Mafia is a really good game, but it still falls below GTA3. If they put Mafia 2 in the current, add some radio stations, have alot more side missins during free roam, than it will compete with GTA3. I'm not putting Mafia down, i'm just saying its ready to compete with GTA3.

Mafia... LOVED it. Probably because it made alot of references to the BEST movie of ALL time, THE GODFATHER! GTA3 cant even touch Mafia
