I'm trying to play Final Fantasy XII, but for some reason, it won't (completely) load my save files anymore. It will start to load them, and even play the music for the area, but the picture will never come back, and all of the controls stop responding. I've already tried cleaning the disc, the lens, everything... funny thing is, it shouldn't be damaged, because I haven't taken it out of the PS2 since I got it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I looked at the disc, and there's this scratch in it that's almost like a circle... like something in the PS2 contacted the disk while it was spinning. It probably erased some of the code that loads the maps, or something... heh, go figure. Thanks anyway, though. Guess I'll just have to buy a new disc... *sigh*.

ah unlucky man. if its new then ask for a replacement but other than that i would just do the same as Verdant_Abyss but oh well.

Yep, it'll be okay once you get a new one, even though that sucks, much sympathy.

No, I didn't use a cheating device... I usually get bored with the game if there's no challenge. The disc was the only thing in the drive, and nothing was even touching the ps2 when whatever it was happened.

I found some advice on repairing scratched disks, though, so I'll try that.

Um... I've read you've cleaned your PS2's lens. Mind asking if you're disc tray or any part of the PS2 inside are aligned. Cause it might be the reason why you're CD is damaged. Cause the PS2 alignment isn't right.

Hey Nulmech have checked your player by playing another game, maybe your player is broken so instead of going for another PS2 go for PS3

Some games are not very compatible with the ps3 so when playing ps2 games the ps2 is still better.

Don't keep your disk in the ps2 when your not using it and don't move the ps2 with a disc in i left one in before knocked it and it a a scratch lol (I knocked it like 10 Cm)

Scratches are not that big of a deal. I tossed my Tekken Tag like a frisbee and it still works fine. If a scratch is the problem though, you can get it cleaned at a game store. Might cost like 10 bucks but it's worth it.

Hey I don't know that scratches can be fixed. I thought it's forever...

I leave the Game cd on the ps2 so that it covers the dust from falling on the players reading head.

I value the player more than the cd
