Who is best for the Spear?

well to be honest it IS possible to get the ZS at lvl 19-22, but I would suggest you get these abilities and augments first

-ALL HP augments, believe me
-Float (Saver and a must, what more you'll have less to think of when running thought the necrohol.)
-Full 3 quikening (more mana for healing during "rest times")

The level isn't a big factor and you can in fact get the spear as long as you have more than 1800 HP EACH.

Larsa also helps because he adds as another target = higher survival, in fact I did this with Larsa.

Never pass through the Nabreaus deadlands, I did once and I got hell... T_T

As for passing through BK, the 2k HP will really help in sirvivality. Summong Bellias is IN FACT a great idea The reason I recomended the 3 quikenings = higher mana = more bellias

Don't spare your ethers! You can get more in the Secret Shop of the NoNabudis.

If worse comes to worse, use an Eklixir..

BTW I used the light armor and demonsbane with Vaan while fighting him. When Bellias tanks the bombs and BK, help a little by damaging some of the bombs.

Believe me, just spend most of your time getting LP's and a few levels than spending a whole day wasting on some attempts that are jut based on luck (Etc. Since I only have 1000 HP, I wish BK doesn't target me/The enemies in the Necrohol won't hit me) Believe me, they WILL HIT YOU and it'll hurt. So pump those LP's and get more HP's

If you have not opened the concerned chests, and you get to that zodiac spear chest, is it 100% that it will be there? How many times?

As you walk into the room the Zodiac Spear is in the front row, 2nd chest from the left. Summon Belias first so he can take the grief from all around whilst you open the chest and get out. He'll only take 2 or 3 hits but that gives you time to react.

I've missed my chance of getting it there, but out of interest, if you open a different chest first can you still get it there?

Well, I didn't know about that connection. Maybe I'll try to get it in my 2nd playthrough.

I don't know how I did it without getting killed and without using phoenix downs "this at Solo challenge with Vaan LVL 30" I didn't have any map, just the location on my mind.
