File not fully loading

I'm trying to play Final Fantasy XII, but for some reason, it won't (completely) load my save files anymore. It will start to load them, and even play the music for the area, but the picture will never come back, and all of the controls stop responding. I've already tried cleaning the disc, the lens, everything but it wont work.

i have no idea what to do so need some halp please =]

quote Myself lol
Have you checked your memory card? Maybe it's been smashed or cracked or maybe the chips inside have been fried. My advice would be to check and see if any of your other games (provided you have some) will load off the same memory card, and if not, then it's probably the card itself. If it does read it from another game but doesn't from FFXII, then it's probably your disk. Make sure theres no scratches on it, keep it clean, and if it still doesn't work, your disk could be damaged. Sometimes disks can freeze (like with cold and ice) and it creates little air bubbles, or if the disk was bent in any way it could have been warped so that the actual data that's on the cd warps and the system can't read it any more. That happened to me once where my friend stepped on my disk and it lifted the data sticker part off the disk (but you couldn't even really tell) and it ended up being garbage because it couldn't be fixed. I took it back and asked them to replace it and they did. If that's the case, I'd take it back to whatever store you got it from and tell them that you went to play it and the game didn't work and ask for a new copy.

I hope that helps and if you need any more help, feel free to send me a message or something. Good luck on getting your game working again and I hope everything goes well for you <3

re: File not fully loading

does the game work properly when not loading a save file?

if no, your game is damaged in some capacity. try some of things julzy suggested or cut to the chase and buy a new copy.

if yes, your game file(s) or maybe even the entire memory card is corrupted. time to start a new game and possibly invest in a new memory card.

Or, what you could also try, in your main PS2 window (make sure the disk is ejected or not in the system at all) copy that save file onto a different memory card and try to open up that file in the game to see if it works. That may rule out if it's the memory card that's damaged, or if it's the game. Give it a shot and then let us know what happens, okay? :3

re: File not fully loading

Before you buy a new copy, try to rent it and see if it works with the rented one (that way you don't have to spend all the money on a new one if it isn't going to work either.)

Have you tried cleaning your PS2? It' on a hard surface and not on a rug or anything right? Coz it can over heat and damage the inside motherboard and chips and stuff. So you might have to clean the sucker out and get rid of the dust and such from the ventilation holes, keep it on a hard surface like a desk or something and try that. And like I said before, try renting before buying to see if it is in fact your disk.

Any time n__n

If it is in fact your disk, you /might/ be able to get ahold of Square Enix and they may mail you a brand new disk, especially if you told them that it never worked in the first place. x:
