I was looking through some very old posts, and I saw one explainging the reason behind the stone of the condemner, or something like that. The optional esper, Zeromus. Anywho, I went to go fight it, but it hit Balthier once and he died. Sooo, we didn't stand a chance. Any advice? Everyone is level 28 except for Ashe, who we're working on. Flametongue for Vaan and Balthier. Icebrand for Ashe. Storm spear for Basch. War hammer for Penelo. Recurve crossbow for Fran.

He's an optional esper. You are supposed to be a rather high level to fight him because of all the Dead Bones that spawn with him, and you can't use magic. Don't fight him until much later (probably the 40's would be good, I'm not too sure, I haven't done a normal playthrough in a while). At your point, you would have to be quite overleveled, with great equipment to stand a chance, so just come back later.

Yes you are too low a level and probably too ill equipped to fight him now...

No offense to limberheadpollen but mid fourties is good enough. Like always equipment and tactics are more important than levels.

Underleveled... maybe... do tecknicks work? What kind of attacks does he do?

Hmmm..... biggest thing to deal with is the 'no magic' field that is in effect. This means healing has to be done with potions. Personally I don't bother to heal anyone, I just use phoenix downs with a Pheasant Netsuke whenever anyone goes down. on the plus side that means you can use all the quickening you want since you've nothing else to do with the MP.

I Was Level 70 On My First Try And He Owned Me

I never really bothered to go after all the Espers until later in the game so I was pretty high lvled when I went and fought Zeromus, and on both times hes only KOed a single character before I killed him. The final deathblow came right after the knockout hit on my character.

I decided to go after the optional espers until after I completed the storyline. It's best to wait until the best skills and spells are availiable to you, which is later in the game, of course.

I actually got them as soon as I could on my most recent playthrough. Had to kill Zodiark with Bio....roughly 2000 damage per hit....what a pain.

Zeromus was a pain in the under side. I killed him with 3 level 60 characters. I had the protect, shell, haste, bravery buffs when I first got to him, and they lasted until about I took him down about 25% hp. Then I just kept beating him, one ally had the phoenix down gambit and the other an X-potion.

Weapons were 2 Save the Queen and 1 Ultima Blade. Also had Maximillian armor.
