Help me!

Who ever has the International Zodiac Job System that doesn't speak Japanese, help me. I ordered the IZJS, I speak english, and I know that it is in Japanese. I was thinking I could play by memorization, is that easy? Like, I know where everything is (I think), and I could maybe just jot the meanings down. But I will get confused by the new new items, weapons, etc. Please help me!

PS: I also ordered FFX-2 International + Last Mission. I hate Square! Why does Japan get exclusives?! I hate it! They could at least make the games have an english choice like FFX Int.

Judge, do you have a TV capture card or some way to put screen shots into your computer?

If so, one thought would be to copy the Japanese characters from a screen shot on your PC and enter one line at a time of these characters into an online translator program. There are several of these translators on the internet that will put Japanese into English.

To copy them, you could just try highlighting the text and do Copy/Paste. If it doesn't work directly from the screen shot, then copy/paste into a Text Edit program or even a word processing program, and then copy/paste from there to the online translator.

While doing this, you could copy/paste that same line of Japanese text into a a blank Word document. As you get the lines translated one by one, enter the English next to each line in the word document.

Working a page at a time, you would then be creating a glossary for each page of the game.

Doing so will basically create a Walkthrough translated version in English, and these pages could be printed out for your use and then posted here on neoseeker.

Think about it! That could mean you would get FFXII Grand Master playing for at least another 3 years.

From there I would buy the game in a heartbeat and so would others, and you could have other English speakers playing along too, and from there more people involved! I bet Ashe10 or Split would help and so would others!

The voice acting is in English. I do have a capture card (Duh! How do you think I made those Perfect Game videos?). And that is easier said than done, trust me. I am not going to write a translated script, sorry. I don't have the time. I just wanna play the game, see the extras, etc.

BTW: If anyone wants to buy this game, I got it on eBay. I hope it gets here soon!

I imagine staring at the menus long enough will eventually result in a visual familiarity with the Japanese characters. Seeing a new line of Japanese in the Weapons menu, for example, obviously would mean recognizing a new weapon was obtained. One work around to start with would be buying everything possible in the shops and then trying it all out on weak enemies until you figure out what each thing in the list really is.

The Zodiac Job system would be rather tough to figure out, IMO. So would the Sandalwood Chop if that is in the game too, unless it is an exact copy of the English one, and you could memorize what the people look like to match their conversations.

I might make that guide when I get more time and get used to the game. I do not know how I am going to figure out the new weapons, though. But at least the numbers are the same! I will post a video of some of the changes like you can control a guest, control espers, speed button, licence boards, you can even get more than one Mythril Sword! Anyone want to join me in my confusing quest to play IZJS?

Bought the Swap Magic disks and slide card to mod out my fat PS2! Found a website where I could get both for 30.00 US and free shipping. I figure it can't be harder to use these things than it is to swap out the pin connectors on NES, which I have done not twice, but thrice.

Got an offer in on a copy of the game, if that offer doesn't fly (Ebay) I'll find another copy.

Since Judge's copy is already on the way, maybe he could start a new thread to begin the quest?

What a good idea this is...hopefully I'll have my stuff and get my PS 2 tricked out to play imports within the next 7-10 days.

So, you have one person here in for the challenge. Your topic here just stayed on my brain all day until I finally went and bought the stuff.

How hard can it be? There is nothing to prove so our characters will probably die, Lost in Translation style, but there should be some way to figure this out, even if we have to restart the game a couple of times.

Okay, next person, somebody else has to get in on this!

At least there are some videos on YouTube already, that might get us thru some of the things in the game.

I actually went thru thinking about doing this before. I have a PS3, but not ready to pasture out my PS2 yet, so much left to play!

This might open up a whole new game period for me, there are other Japanese games later on that I could get into as well.

I just got done reading an article on the landing page of Yahoo that gaming improves mood and leads to less smoking, less snacking & improves IQ. All the more reason to play this game, brain will be busy. It is going to learn to visually discriminate Japanese language characters. AND play FF XII International.
