Did you let 5 necrophobes divide at LGS before you killed them all? Did you two zone after LE spawned and the returned to XIV to find him gone BEFORE you 1 zoned? If you haven't done these things, I suggests you do them, because this method has never failed for me

The Larva Eater spawns in certain locations after you have killed 256 enemies in the Great Crystal. He will then respawn after you two-zone and kill anywhere from 32-255 more enemies (not quite sure about the lower bound). Chaining is not necessary. The reason the glitch works is that the game thinks you are killing more necrophobes just when you are zoning (has something to do with divide). But it is possible to spawn Larva Eater quite often by just killing stuff, you just won't be able to chain him to increase your chances of getting a danjuro unless you do the Mom Bomb method or necrophobe glitch.

By the way, back when I was playing this game, I found that the kills are cumulative and do NOT reset each time you kill LE. So, for example, if you kill 256*2 = 512 enemies, then you will spawn him at least twice in a row just by two-zoning. It was nice to be able to one-zone overnight and let the necrophobe kills stack up, and then I could kill LE ten times in a row or more.
