The last Lux I fought who started with Doran's regretted it. I was playing AP Maokai . With the simple tactic of move around, collect charges, spam Seedlings then press clarity, I hit 4 and root slow seedlinged her, and without the seedling hitting the second proc, she was dead. That's one of those real "I wish I'd started boots 3" moments, because I was slow with a Doran's. Those boots would've made it more difficult to hit her with Seedlings, and then burst her down when the pots are a-running. Mid honestly seems like the king of boots 3 still. AD carries honestly can be sectioned in two. Rush BT > Grab Long Sword and 2 health pots if possible. Rush IE > Grab Boots and 3 Health Pots. Rush PD > Then you're a moron. Rush LW > Then they'd better have a ~100 armor each by the time you buy it. You're still a moron x_x. Saying that, rushing PD on Ashe and Vayne is fun, just a somewhat bad idea. Anyway, back to the point, if the enemy have a gap closer that is completely unstoppable, then grabbing Doran's on Lux is gifting them an early kill if that gap closer is available pre 6. Post 6 and it becomes somewhat dependent on the Lux's build (MR, Health, and whether the Lux can land a skillshot or not).

Flask works well, instead of Boots3, imo. Depends on your champions mobility, though.

I say this, but I usually go Boots3, anyway.

Not because it's a bad or good item, but because it makes top lane hell for the opponent that doesn't take it.

To be honest I find 9 health potions and 2 wards to be the better start. It gives you more sustain. if you need mana that bad, 7 health potions, 2 mana potions and 2 wards do just as well. I don't see the usefulness in flask past level 10. Sure it gives you a great early advantage, but so does stacking potions.

Eh it's preferably to have a tanky jungler/support as well. We had a Taric that game and he had a Frozen Heart as well, the main goal was to stack auras and just be outright tanker since the enemy team had 3 AD only assassins.

It's still preferable to have a bruiser top and a CC tank in the jungle.

What a shame lol if you basically were then only tank then Trundle would have been amazing. 25~50% Armor and MR theft over 8 seconds OP. At the end of his ult Trundle would have stolen 225 armor from you and taken it for himself. After a Black Cleaver, Last Whisper, Armor Pen Runes and Armor Pen mastery you would have have been cut down to size-- 77 armor size.
