Tager's a very strong "pubstomp" character because if you see a gap in someone's blockstring, you can just backdash or throw out the 360 and they eat 40% health. In CT, he was reeeeeeally bad. He got a lot better in CS when he got Gadget Finger because now he could reset you into basically 50/50s.

Tager is actually more susceptible to zoning, like most grapplers. Most new players think, "Oh, I'll just throw out projectiles BUT THEN HE SLEDGES THROUGH THEM THAT'S CRAZY". After day one, when people learn that you can completely zone him through pokes and baits, essentially forcing him to walk to you. You can just bait the spark bolt and he literally has no options other than walking forward.

If you go to rush him down, you're susceptible to getting grabbed. You're in throw range which is more dangerous to people who don't have their spacing and blockstrings down. He can just get you off of him by barrier blocking or, if they're good, they'll just IB and then grab. Shit sucks. If you do land a combo on offense, as soon as they're knocked down, unless they're in the corner (which is why Makoto was a pain in the ass), you can pretty much reset to neutral by rolling forward, backwards, neutral tech, or quick stand. You have so many options that it's hard to really build solid momentum on offense.

I find it easy to hit low on Tager to try and get combos down. But of course, he eventually grabs me again lol
I actually like going against Tager with Makoto because her 214a~d or 214~a to 6a
I always figured it was just really quick reflexes lol I watch my brother and my friend play they always go Hazama and Tager. Pretty fun to watch
